Got An Eye Out For Selener: Celebrity-Approved Rare Beauty Products

Mess or no mess, all eyes are on Rare Beauty

Is anyone updated on the so-called beef between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber? If you are, you’re a champ for untangling the overlapping stories. If you aren’t, then you probably have more things to do. Honestly, I mentally checked out at the same time Selena did—consuming that much celebrity gossip and speculation can be mentally tiring! But what I also appreciated, thanks to the supposed feud, is a comprehensive list of celebrity-approved Rare Beauty products. Not just loved by Selena Gomez (or, affectionately, Alex Russo) but other famous personalities who shared GRWM videos featuring the products they swear by. Olivia Rodrigo, Vanessa Hudgens, Sabrina Carpenter, Jordyn Woods and Pia Mia have used Rare Beauty in their routines.

After all, who wouldn’t love the brand? Apart from an inclusive shade range, accessible packaging and vegan and cruelty-free formulas, Rare Beauty also stands for an advocacy close to Selena’s heart: mental health. She even committed one percent of the brand’s sales to the Rare Impact Fund, a project that offers mental health services to disadvantaged communities—shopping for a good cause? Count us in.

So, mess or no mess, we’re tuning in and taking notes on what celebrity-approved Rare Beauty products might just be worth the hype.

Kind Words Matte Lipliner (P 1,000)

Jordyn Woods might have used the same lipliner in one of her recent Instagram stories, but a favorite case of a celebrity-approved Rare Beauty product is actually from our favorite Nonsense singer. Sometime in 2022, Sabrina Carpenter posted a video of her makeup routine. She lined her lips with the Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lip Liner. While I’m no expert, the colors that complement the chocolate brown lippie she used could be Wise, Gifted or Strong. Long-wearing and waterproof, the product glides on easily upon application thanks to its creamy texture.

Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer (P 1,550)

Glossier might have Olivia Rodrigo locked down, but she gave a nod to Rare Beauty in one of her get ready with me videos. The good 4 u singer uses the concealer to brighten under her eyes and cover up some spots, which she immediately blends out with her fingers. Fellow Fil-Am celebrity Vanessa Hudgens approves of the same item for her video in Vogue’s Beauty Secrets. And Selena Gomez even touts this as one of her brand's most “underrated products”—an even bigger reason to try this out.

Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush (P 1,550)

Singer Pia Mia subtly endorsed this blush in a recent makeup video and the sweet, skin-like flush it gave the singer left me in awe. According to Selena Gomez’s explainer for Sephora, the Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush feels like liquid on skin. The blush dries like a lightweight powder without moving any type of makeup under it. And if you follow her routine videos on Rare Beauty or Vogue, Selena will most likely bring this up when it’s time to achieve a natural flush.

Soft Pinch Liquid Blush (P 1,550)

One of the most popular products from Rare Beauty is the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush—it doesn’t need much introduction apart from SelGo’s constant endorsement on YouTube. Maybe it’s because of its highly pigmented colors, which gives everyone a bang for their buck. But this liquid blush also gained popularity because the product works wonders on the skin. Matte and radiant (dewy) finishes are also available to accommodate different skin types and preferences.

Bonus: Blot & Glow Touch-Up Makeup Kit (P 1,750)

I haven’t seen any celebrity use this compact before, but many beauty creators and makeup boutique employees on TikTok swear by this Rare Beauty product. The Blot & Glow Touch-Up Makeup Kit comes with a pre-filled powder puff and blotting sheets, a perfect retouch kit for those on-the-go. All its users need to do is tap the puff to activate the powder and go to town. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m pretty amazed that I signed up for Sephora’s waitlist.
