We’ve Added Bubbly To Our Cocktail Hour. Here Are 3 Chandon Cocktails To Enjoy This Weekend

Time to kick back and relax

I’ve said it once before, and I’ll say it again: I’ll take any excuse to have a glass of my favorite drink. It’s not to overindulge (or get drunk, because I can’t manage a hangover and a preschooler at the same time) but to enjoy food that pairs well with my drink. Sometimes, especially if it’s the weekend, to kick back and relax because why not? We’ve all earned it!

Wine is and will always be my go-to, but I’ve recently added bubbly to cocktail hour after being introduced to Chandon. Founded in 1959 by Robert-Jean de Vogüé, Chandon is a sparkling wine maison under Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH).

Yes, you can think of it as Moët & Chandon’s cousin. However, Chandon and other bubbles are not Champagne. If I may borrow from the Internet, I was today year’s old when I learned that it can only be called Champagne if it’s made in that region of France. The same goes for Prosecco, which are bubbles made in Italy, Cava from Spain and Sekt from Germany.

Back to Chandon, the sparkling wine is available in three varieties: Brut, Rosé and Délice.

Chandon Brut

Best served in a wine glass, Brut combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The resulting flavor is fresh, vibrant and fruity—perfect for weekend brunch.

Cocktail to make: Mimosa

What you’ll need: Chandon Brut and orange juice (fresh is better if you have time to spare)

How to make it: Remember to chill the ingredients before making your cocktail. Add the sparkling wine first and top with orange juice.

Eat it with: Soft white cheeses

Chandon Rosé

Rosé is bright pink in color thanks to the blend of Malbec, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This particular variant is a personal favorite because of notes of strawberry, raspberry and red currant. Intense, fruity and creamy in taste, it’s a great choice for cocktail hour, especially on warm weekend afternoons.

Cocktail to make: Grapefruit & Rosé Spritz

What you’ll need: Chandon Rosé, 2 parts fresh grapefruit juice, 1 part tonic water, 3 parts Chandon Rosé, grapefruit wheel and or fresh mint for garnish

How to make it: It sounds complicated, but this is rather easy to make. Add grapefruit juice to a wine glass with ice. Then add tonic water and stir. Top with Chandon Rosé and garnish with grapefruit wheel and fresh mint.

Eat it with: Mediterranean or Italian cuisine, or as simple as toast

Chandon Délice

This one’s made with the adventurous in mind. Délice is a fusion of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir with late harvested Semillon and Petit Manseng. Unlike how sparkling wine is traditionally consumed, this variant is best enjoyed in a tumbler, with two ice cubes and a twist of flavor. Semi-sweet, Délice is a crowd-pleaser anyone can appreciate whatever the occasion.

Cocktail to make: The Perfect Serve

What you’ll need: Chandon Délice, 2 ice cubes, garnish of choice (for contrast, try basil leaves, and cucumber or orange slices)

How to make it: Chill Délice for 2.5 hours. Add 2 ice cubes in a tumbler and pour the sparkling wine. Finish with your garnish of choice.

Eat it with: Cured or smoked meat
