Hump Day Motivation: Things To Do This Weekend

Crawling through the weekend? We bring you some incentives to finish the week

Ah, yes, hump day. We’re at this point of the week where time moves simultaneously fast and slow. We’re effortlessly breezing through the work and weekdays but the hurdles to the weekend seem endless. So when things feel more dragging than speedy, let’s allow our imaginations to run wild: daydream. Make a mental list of your weekend plans to finish work faster. Think of letting loose in Cubao or Poblacion to max out your social battery or lining up to taste those Olive Garden breadsticks—finally. Cozy up in your bedroom with new titles to watch or enjoy new stories on the big screen. Zero in on the light at the end of the tunnel.

Up ahead, we list some suggestions for your weekend plans to boost you this hump day.

Binge-watch Drag Race Philippines

The number of memes that explode on the internet every Wednesday evening should be enough motivation for you to watch Drag Race Philippines. But I get it—with episodes premiering mid-week and Untucked greeting everyone at the end of the week, there’s a lot of content to follow. But what are weekends for? Binge-watching. So whatever point of the series you’ve reached, use the weekend to catch up, rewatch and marathon all Drag Race Philippines episodes. Yes, even all the way down to Untucked. Fill your weekend with laughs, important discussions and, the most important of all, drama!

Don’t worry, we’re keeping it spoiler-free. For an intro to the queens, watch the introduction featuring all 12 contestants of Drag Race Philippines or read our exclusive feature.

Enter the Celestial Space with BGYO and H&M

There’s nothing like hump day motivation than a concert. While we’re slowly getting back into the groove of having IRL gigs and live shows, virtual concerts still let us enjoy things with a twist. This weekend, P-pop icons BGYO will conquer the virtual universe for a two-night concert with the help of clothing brand H&M. The BGYO Celestial Spaces: H&M Concert from the Virtual Universe features 45 minutes of Gelo, Akira, Mikki, JL and Nate performing for ACEs. Of course, it’s not complete with killer ‘fits from H&M that feature items from different collections, both old and new. Music, fashion and tech come together from September 24 to 25, with both shows happening at 8 PM.

Take part in music history by securing your slots for the show through this link. Registering for free also serves as your entry to win exclusive merchandise and VIP tickets to the viewing party at the Meta Gala. So what are you waiting for? Marathon Amazing Korean Film Festival at Select Ayala Malls

Parasite (2019) director Bong Joon-Ho once said, “Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.” And he’s right. So if you’re in dire need of film exploration, marathon some notable Korean films on the big screen this weekend. Happening from September 21 to 27, the Korean Film Festival: Seoul Spotlight is part of Ayala Malls’ efforts to bring Korean culture to Filipinos nationwide. In partnership with VIVA International Pictures and MVP Entertainment, catch nine Korean movies at these cinemas: Glorietta, TriNoma, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Centrio, Ayala Malls Capitol Central and Ayala MarQuee Mall.

The lineup has a diverse list of feature films by South Korean directors. From mysteries that make you think, to thrillers that offer jumpscares to feel-good movies for the whole family, there’s a long list to choose from.

The ticket prices range from P200 to P250 per movie, depending on where you’re watching. But loyal marathoners can purchase Festival Passes. Catch three films for P650 or seven movies for P1,500 for Manila locations. Regional locations can enjoy three movies for P500 and seven titles for P1,200.

Check out the complete list of movies right here:
