A refreshing take on drinking and dining right at the heart of High Street
At the unveiling of the first Jim Beam Highball Pop-Up Bar last weekend, BGC nightlife earned itself a nifty little upgrade: a decked-out immersive 360 bar, live music, carnival games and a summer-perfect way to enjoy the world’s number one bourbon.
For one weekend only, Jim Beam took over the Globe Amphitheatre in Bonifacio High Street, to reintroduce its signature cocktail, the Jim Beam Highball, transforming the bare space into a picturesque nightspot and creating an all-new drink, dine and unwind experience.

Collaborating with next-door restaurants in Central Square, the experience also served as a primer on bourbon and food pairings with its curation of menu items from 205, Village Tavern, Nanbantei of Tokyo, the Coconut Club, Alegria Cozinha Moderna & Sangria Bar, and Torch that perfectly complement the six flavors of the Jim Beam Highball. To complete the fête, bargoers were also treated to the musical stylings of award-winning Filipino pop band Autotelic and genre-bending four-piece band Oh, Flamingo! across the four evenings.
“The Jim Beam Highball Pop-Up Bar takes fun to another level,” enthused Sally Lim, the Senior Marketing Manager of Beam Suntory Southeast Asia. “[We’re giving] Manila more things to explore: from our specially crafted highball flavors to live music from local indie bands, games and delicious food that everyone can enjoy.”

Interactive, tailor-made for summers in the city and a fusion of all the best things to cap off the workweek with: the only qualm we had with the Jim Beam Highball Pop-up Bar was the fact that it ran for just one weekend (from April 24, Wednesday, through to April 28, Sunday). Here’s to hoping for seconds or even thirds of one of the coolest pop-up concepts we’ve come across in a long while.

The signature cocktail is a cinch to make on your own at home: Jim Beam is best served in a Jim Beam Highball, a tall cocktail of Jim Beam Bourbon over ice, topped with soda and finished with a squeeze of citrus. This concoction is the ultimate drink for summer in the tropics: whether as a noon-time tipple, an after-work refresher or a weekend party-starter.
