What Went Down At The 14th Philippine SME Business Expo

Promising wider floors and bigger doors to future business opportunities

The 14th Philippine SME (PHILSME) Business Expo held a two-day run from May 11 to 12, 2024, bringing together ideas, connections, possibilities and the promise of business growth at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City.

Attended by a total of 8,000 individuals, the said event became an avenue—a potent ground—for small-to-medium enterprises to connect with diverse industry experts, learn more about innovative solutions and explore further business prospects.

At the front and center of the event was Mediacom Solutions Inc.’s commitment to help this particular business sector, backed by research that SMEs are dynamic enough to boost the Philippine economy through “employment, income and overall development.” After all, the numbers have it. SMEs represent 99.59%— a massive chunk— of businesses in the country, according to the 2022 List of Establishments (LE) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Fueled by its commitment to aid SMEs, Managing Director Trixie Esguerra-Abrenilla says, “Our overall objective is to help them come together, collaborate with each other and have them showcase their business solutions.” She promises that this will not be the last effort—and in the ensuing years, wider floors and promising new doors will be explored.

She promises: “We will continue to provide valuable resources, opportunities and support to empower this important sector and foster the spirit of collaboration within the Philippine business landscape.”

PHILSME on creating meaningful partnerships

As committed by Mediacom Solutions Inc., keynotes took the spotlight, with most of the notable speakers coming from formidable businesses and brands.

Project management platform Odoo, for one, deployed experts to render their in-depth knowledge on streamlining and automating business operations. Security Bank, on the other hand, provided insights on inclusive financial solutions. Toyota Financing delved deep into accessible transportation modes and how those may be utilized for livelihood. And Canva went beyond to talk about artificial intelligence (AI) and its pivotal role in any creative projects.

These are only four out of the 180 business solutions presented by over 120 sponsors and exhibitors across a highly dynamic business ecosystem comprising finance, banking, advertising, healthcare, IT, logistics, franchising, telecommunications and many more.

The PHILSME Business Expo, as revealed by Trixie, is much bigger and more meaningful than the two-day event. At the core of it is the commitment that greatly fosters a sense of direction for those in the sector. “Our commitment extends beyond the expo,” she says. “We strive to continue supporting SMEs by helping them become aware of the latest business solutions, sharing exclusive offers they can take advantage of from various service providers and providing them exclusive opportunities for the PHILSME Business Network.”

The dust hasn’t settled yet, but the organization is already looking forward to bringing another expo this year—slated on November 22 and 23, 2024 at the  SMX Convention Center Manila.
