Wonder Treats Ber Szn 2020 Edition

Read Time: 7 minutes

Sweet treats for you and your sweet(s)

In the Philippines, the holiday season starts soon as the Ber months (you know, September, October, November and December) begin. Malls start setting up festive decor and we start hearing Christmas songs on the radio or they pop up on our recommended lists.

This year is a far cry from the last and it’s hard to say how Christmas will look like, but here we all are, trying! And because we figured you might need a little help (we do, too), we looked at what some of our favorite brands are up to, to get us in the mood.

Rustan’s

Rustan’s is bringing Christmas to our homes

The spirit of the season lives on! We are, after all, Christmas-loving people, and despite everything 2020 has put us through, every cloud has its silver lining.

For one, our favorite stores are making it easier for us to not just shop for essentials, but to shop for gifts for the holidays too. With the launch of Rustan’s Personal Shopper On Call, you can shop the store’s extensive list of local and international brands without having to leave home. Call, browse and pay online, and wait for the items to arrive right at your doorstep. Did we mention? Rustan’s offers free delivery for a minimum purchase. Call (917) 111 1952 to start shopping!

But if you really must leave home (just make sure to follow the new normal etiquette, including wearing a face shield), Rustan’s is committed to ensuring a stress-free experience by implementing safety protocols and excellent service in all its branches. Why not make it easier for yourself and browse through the store’s online catalogue before heading out? You’ll find almost everything they have to offer in there. They also made sure Rustans.com is updated weekly so you can browse through hot and fresh collections from your favorite brands.

And if you miss the bright and festive window displays Rustan’s is known for but prefer to stay home, Rustan’s holiday content, where they share decorating tips, gifts suggestions and schedules of other online festivities, might just spark a new Christmas tradition. They even have a Santa-On-(Zoom) Call program, which literally connects kids (and the kids at heart) to Santa and his elves! Listen to stories and write letters and email it to hellosanta@rustans.com. You, I mean the kids, might even get the chance to have their holiday wish granted!

The celebrations kick off  with a two-day holiday promo in all Rustan’s branches on November 7 and 8. Enjoy 0% installment for 3, 6 and 12 months across all major banks with a minimum single receipt purchase worth P3,000, P10,000 and P20,000, respectively. Other special offers include 40% off on select items at Rustan’s Silver Vault, 20% off on select kitchenware brands and 10% off for a minimum purchase of P1,500 on bath and body products.

Shop-from-home with Rustan’s Personal Shopper On-Call program. Contact your favorite Rustan’s store to request for the personal shopper service and a Sales Associate will be assigned to assist you with your inquiries, order confirmation and payment transactions. Fulfilled orders can be collected via curbside pick-up or items can be delivered to you for free, for a minimum purchase requirement of P5,000 starting on November 1, 2020.*

*For Personal Shopper On Call, a minimum purchase of P5,000 automatically grants you free delivery for Metro Manila and Provincial Areas. Meanwhile, a P200 fixed delivery fee will be charged for purchases below P5,000 in Metro Manila and P300 for provincial areas. Delivery to Cebu is already available.

Magnum

Go on a sweet escape

We’ve been through a lot this year and, dare we say it, we deserve to live a little. It is Christmas after all. So watch a couple of episodes of the Queen’s Gambit on Netflix, get lost in books (our list of recommendations right this way) and just treat yourself whatever that means for you.

Magnum makes the experience sweeter with the all-new Magnum Pints. Just like your favorite ice cream bars, each tub is crafted with Magnum’s thick, made-to-be-broken Belgian chocolate goodness, which lines all sides of the pint, top to bottom. Meanwhile, inside the shell is smooth, Madagascar Vanilla ice cream and shards of more Magnum Belgian Chocolate because why not? Choose from Magnum’s three signature flavors, Classic, Almond and White. (You can never go wrong with the classic!)

Here’s how you can fully enjoy your Magnum Pint:

  • WAIT. Thaw for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • CRACK. Squeeze the pack on either side and use your spoon to smash through the top.
  • INDULGE. Mix the chocolate shards with the vanilla ice cream and enjoy—you deserve it!

Magnum Pints are available in three flavors and in a 440ML tub for P360 in all leading supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide.

Nespresso

On opening its second boutique in the time of corona

Nespresso just opened its second boutique in the country at The Podium. Seems unusual given the pandemic, but it serves a purpose: to be a sign of hope, of better times ahead. “We decided to continue despite the difficulties brought about by this pandemic, not only to provide our club members with premium barista quality coffee in their homes but also as a message of hope,” explains Patrick Pesengco, Novateur Coffee Concepts Inc Managing Director.

The new boutique is sectioned into three zones: the Explore Zone, which is dedicated to Nespresso’s new product range, Involve Zone, which promotes coffee and sustainability, and Engage Zone, which gives anyone who enters a museum-like welcome and experience.

In the same space, loyal patrons can also take part in the brand’s greater green initiative by returning their used coffee capsules to be recycled and upcycled. Great coffee, great message, what more can we ask for?

In the Philippines, Nespresso is exclusively distributed by Novateur Coffee Concepts. Nespresso Boutique is located at Level 2 of The Podium. For opening hours, visit www.nespresso.ph.

OREO

Your favorite desserts now in your favorite cookie

Everyone’s favorite cookie just got better. OREO just released two new flavors inspired by the world’s best-loved desserts: OREO Red Velvet and OREO Salted Caramel.

Red Velvet features a red velvet-colored cookie and cheesecake flavored center, while Salted Caramel combines the contrasting flavors of creamy caramel and sea salt. Best enjoyed with your drink of choice (milk or black coffee for us!) and in the company of our loved ones.

OREO Seasonals is available in all leading stores and e-commerce platforms nationwide from August until December 2020 or until supplies last. For more exciting announcements, follow OREO on Facebook.

Johnnie Walker

Take a trip for the senses

Johnnie Walker celebrates its 200th anniversary with Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin Series, a limited edition collection that celebrates the many flavor profiles of Scotland. Let it take you on a trip through Scotland, specifically to the Speyside and Lowland regions where the two new blends took inspiration from.

Fancy something light and fruity? Try Johnnie Walker Black Label Speyside Origin. Featuring hints of cut green apple and orchard fruit, this blend is made exclusively from quality single malts from the Speyside region and whisky from the distilleries of Cardhu and Glendullan. Meanwhile, Johnnie Walker Black Label Lowlands Origin boasts a sweet and creamy taste thanks to its vanilla character and subtle notes of toffee. It’s made exclusively from a variety of single malt and grain whiskies from the Lowlands, including distilleries of Glenkinchie and Cameronbridge.

But that’s not all. This month, Johnnie Walker also teamed up with cocktail joint OTO for an afternoon of whisky tasting and craft cocktails by Diageo Reserve World Class 2019 Philippines Bartender of the Year and OTO Head Bartender David Abalayan. Both cocktails, The Take Over, The Breaks Over and Good Times, Bad Times feature Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin Series as its base.

Picturing yourself by the beach, cocktail in hand (hard same)? Go for the smoky taste of Good Times, Bad Times. Looking for a refreshing cocktail at the end of a long day? Ease your woes with the rich and citrusy flavor of The Take Over, The Breaks Over.

If you’re more of a purist, you can get the Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin Series for P1,899 at The Booze Shop. For OTO’s special cocktails, which comes with a 120ml cocktail and a free 60ml bottle of the base whisky used, you can learn more through their Instagram page. Remember that when you purchase OTO’s cocktails, part of the proceeds will go to the Poblacion bar community.

Please do not share this with those under the legal purchase age of alcohol. Always drink responsibly.
