Staying In? Here are 6 Online Bookstores to Help You Get Your Reading Fix

This one’s for our fellow bookworms

The quarantine, with all its extensions and the surges of cabin fever it brings, is a truly strange time.

Notice how we’ve all picked up new hobbies? Everyone can now bake or cook or concoct their own fancy lattes. In just a few months, as if the world had been collectively enrolled into a comprehensive cooking class. We’ve kept ourselves plenty entertained, too, managing to burn a hole through our screens with all the watching we’ve been doing. Suddenly, the list of films we always swore we’d watch (but not really) has disappeared, subject to long nights of binge-watching in the same living room we’d spend the entire day in.

Not even our stack of half-read books has survived. You know the tables have truly turned when the books you’ve left a yellowing bookmark are finally finished, let alone picked up again. We’ve finally read through the unfinished novels from college and those overindulgent bookstore sprees and are officially all out of reading material.

If you happen to have swept through your pile of books, too, fret not. Ahead, we’ve compiled a list of bookstores—yes, all functioning online—that can fill the void and quench your literary thirst.

Will shopping for reads online help ease the guilt that used to come with those long, wallet-draining bookstore trips? We can’t make any promises, but one thing’s for sure: you won’t exit these (virtual) stores (virtually) empty-handed.
