The 88rising Head In The Clouds Festival is Back With the Dream Lineup

The all-Asian music fest is back in full force

88rising has always had a great instinct in choosing who to feature and whom to bring together. Each of their Head In The Clouds compilation albums provided awesome collaborations and little to no skips. Meanwhile, their concerts and festivals are other pieces of evidence that they only bring the best artists under one roof. Take the lineup for the Double Happiness Winter Festival and the most recent roster for Asia Rising Together back in May: both were concerts worth watching from start to finish.

The 88rising Head In The Clouds Festival is back and is happening from November 6 to 7 at Brookside At The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. And upon the release of their setlist, 88rising proves yet again that they’ve brought the best of the best together by bringing the dream lineup. (Yes, even if we’re still waiting on a few more artist announcements.)

First things first, the headlining acts. Of course, 88rising mainstays NIKI, Joji and Rich Brian are headlining the shows. That shouldn’t be up for debate. After all, they’re the crowd favorites and ultimately the label’s most popular artists. They’ll be joined by K-pop superstar CL and one of hip-hop’s rising stars: Saweetie.

But Saweetie isn’t the only Pinoy taking over the lineup, because more Filipino talents are coming. Beabadoobee will be gracing the stage, along with Paradise Rising artists (and previous Wonder cover stars, mind you) Guapdad 4000 and Ylona Garcia. I don’t know about you, but this alone has my hype for the show through the roof. Other 88rising artists, such as ATARASHII GAKKO!, Audrey Nuna, Seori, Stephanie Poetri and Warren Hue will also have their turn at the flagship music festival.

But let me zero in some of the first-timers for Head In The Clouds. eaJ of DAY6 will be making a solo appearance at the festival. Here’s to hoping that his cheeky collaboration with Rich Brian for Love In My Pocket will be brought to life. From the realm of K-hip-hop and R&B, leave a lot of room for excitement. FEELGHOODMUSIC made up of MFBTY and BIBI, is slated to perform. In case you didn’t know, Tiger JK of MFBTY is the Godfather of Korean Hip Hop, which means you can expect mean bars left and right, and a stage that’ll be on fire.

Another act that we’re excited to see take centerstage is the four-piece rock band approved by Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna, The Linda Lindas. At the tender age of 13 years old (on average), these girls have sung for Moxie!, opened for Bikini Kill and signed to a record label. They previously gained virality because of their performance of Racist, Sexist Boy at the LA Public Library. These girls prove to be rockstars with a message that needs to be heard, a message that 88rising and their roster continue to bring to light to stop Asian Hate.

This lineup provides all the best artists all in two days. But while we wait for our collective situation to improve over here, we'll find a way to catch these performances one way or another.

Got any guesses who else will be joining The 88rising Head In The Clouds festival? Sound off in the comments below.
