Although we do *love* that feeling of a good ol’ book sale—rummaging through piles of discounted books and curating our haul until the very last minute—we dislike braving through Manila traffic, finding a parking spot and lining up for what seems like forever. Fret not, the beloved Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is finally back and headed online from June 30 to July 7. The best part? Choose from 60,000 titles for as low as P10, accessible to anyone in the Philippines!
What started as a reading advocacy in Malaysia during 2009 is now the biggest book sale in the world. Big Bad Wolf, the brainchild of Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng, aims to “cultivate reading habits, increase English literacy worldwide and build a new generation of readers, by making books more affordable and accessible to everyone.” Since its inception, it has evolved and gone global, reaching 34 cities in 12 countries like the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Cambodia and Thailand. They’ve also sold a whopping 30 million books!

With the pandemic putting everything on hold, the online transition for Big Bad Wolf 2021 as an e-commerce platform was inevitable. Though we may miss the irreplaceable thrill that comes with planning a trip to Manila with friends and family, even during the wee hours of the morning, for our own Big Bad Wolf haul, we’re happy to know it’s back and more accessible to all!
