BLACKPINK To Release New Album “BORN PINK” in September, Here’s What We Know So Far

BLACKPINK’s new album, the much anticipated comeback, is on its way

Make no mistake, while the four members of BLACKPINK have been busy in the past year, devoted BLINKs have been clamoring for a comeback. From sitting front row in Fashion Week alongside other K-Pop royalties—LISA in Paris with BTS’ V and Park Bo-gum for CELINE—to doing solo projects (see: Jisoo’s debut in Snowdrop and Jennie’s appearance in HBO’s The Idol) and, of course, being the face of global brands: Jennie for Chanel, Jisoo for Dior, LISA for Bulgari and Rosé for YSL. But there's about to be a BLACKPINK new album, and we cannot wait.

This time around, BLACKPINK is ready to focus on their music. I mean, If there’s one thing we learned from BTS’ temporary hiatus—it’s that even the brightest stars can burn out.

Last July 5, their group management agency, YG Entertainment, announced that BLACKPINK is in the “final stages of recording a new album” and that their new music, to be released in August, will kick off “a continuous large-scale project, which will extend through the second half of the year.” The entertainment agency also revealed that the quartet will have the “largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group” to commune with their international fans.

To start the new month with a bang, the group finally released a title for their new album, BORN PINK, which we can expect this September. In a statement by YG Entertainment on YONHAP, BORN PINK refers to their identity, “which is never ordinary and will exude a fatal aura.” After almost two years without new releases (as a group) and months of teasing their fans, we can finally mark it on our calendars!

BLACKPINK’s set to drop a pre-release single this August, and their World Tour begins in October. Speaking of concerts, the K-Pop superstars recently did their first-ever in-game concert in collaboration with PUBG Mobile entitled THE VIRTUAL, where they appeared and performed their chart-topping hits—well, their virtual 3D avatars, that is. And to kick things off, they debuted their new single Ready For Love last July 29, which has already broken records on YouTube.

Meanwhile, a music video is in the works—YG Entertainment’s most expensive production to date. That’s not all, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder also teased a collaboration with the group in Good Morning America. He reveals, “I can’t tell you what’s coming out. I think one or two of my songs have made the album.”

He adds, “From what I’ve been told, and the stuff that I did with them, I can just say it’s very true to their sound.” Tedder co-wrote BLACKPINK’s collaboration with Cardi B, Bet You Wanna, in 2020.
