The Cat’s Out of the Bag: BLACKPINK is Globe Telecom’s Newest Ambassador

2021's looking real good already

There have been whispers and speculation for weeks, but today, BLACKPINK fans all over the country finally got the confirmation they’ve been looking for. K-Pop superstars BLACKPINK are officially Globe Telecom’s newest endorsers.

To say that BLACKPINK has been on a roll this year would be a grave understatement. The four-piece group from YG Entertainment has been known to take their sweet time with music releases, but they’ve kept their BLINKs well-fed almost all year ‘round.

In May, they collaborated with Lady Gaga on Sour Candy. They released How You Like That, then Ice Cream, then a long-awaited studio album. They released a Netflix original documentary (which we’re still guilty of rewatching, by the way), and kept us in the loop on their lives off-stage with their reality show, 24/365 with Blackpink. They’ve floated the promise of solo releases for the members, with Rosé slated to come out first. There’s no argument here: 2020 has been BLACKPINK’s busiest year yet and, with the whirlwind this year has been, it might just be the slice of sanity we needed. And with this hot-off-the-press news of BLACKPINK’s Globe endorsement deal out in the open, it seems like the year is finally wrapping up on a better note. Okay, 2020, apology accepted.

An unsolicited personal paragraph: In addition to my work for Wonder, I’m also happy to call myself the Channel Editor of Kmmunity PH, which is Globe’s official K-culture platform-of-sorts. Granted, the work is a different kind of challenge even for a 12-year K-pop fangirl, but the hardest part of the job is definitely keeping the excitement on the down-low.

Naturally, preparations for BLACKPINK have been in full swing for some time—but in between the sheer amount of work and the non-disclosure agreements, it’s been tough keeping such big news in the dark. Now that the cat’s out of the bag and the weight off our chests, it’s time to bask in the excitement.

In addition to their endorsement deal, BLACKPINK's first ever virtual concert is sponsored by Globe Telecom. Filipino BLINKs have the chance to catch YG PALM STAGE – 2020 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW on December 27th by registering to the Ultimate Stan Promo. Dive into the FAQs here.
