Finally, Some Good News: Celebrities That Got Engaged And Tied The Knot This Quarantine

Here’s another manifestation of love persevering

There's no doubt that you’ve heard some news of celebrities and even loved ones reaching milestones in the past year. Some graduate, some find love, some of them get engaged and some weddings push through. There are some things, whether small or big, that we are allowed to be happy about. Most of them have obviously been lowkey ceremonies and celebrations, just enough to celebrate their love in the middle of a pandemic.

Isn’t it refreshing that in the midst of all this uncertainty, there are still people who want to take the plunge? Especially in romance. If some of us have resigned that we’ll be lonely a little while longer because of what’s happening, there are others that seized the day.

Here are some celebrity engagements and weddings that had us sighing and/or smiling, because finally, some good news.

Ellen Adarna and Derek Ramsay

A month after the two confirmed their relationship, Ellen Adarna showed off her engagement ring in the best way possible: while clutching the love of her life’s face. She dropped the bomb in an Instagram post simply captioned “Game over.” But even if the first photo was seemingly subtle, the rest of their posts say otherwise. All the aww-worthy moments were caught on cam, from Ellen’s shock to the both of them in tears as they sealed the deal.

Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano

Do you ever get emotional over wedding same-day-edits, even if they’re two different strangers tying the knot? ‘Cause same. Jessy Mendiola dropped a vlog about what went down in her intimate wedding with Luis Manzano, along with several Instagram posts sharing snaps of the intimate celebration. Not gonna lie, but seeing the pair tear up as Jessy walked down the aisle had my eyes getting misty, too. Congrats to the lovely, newly-wedded couple!

Nikko Ramos and Bea Fabregas

Bea and Nikko are known for being so aligned, as former UAAP Courtside reporters, meeting first at the DJ booth and bonding over sports and fitness. So when this DJ-hosting-and-sports tag team got engaged and tied the knot in the middle of the hullabaloo of 2020, their followers and loved ones were over the moon. To add some flavor to the traditional tux-and-gown combo, they both rocked sneakers with their wedding attire. No biggie.

They dish what it's like being engaged, getting married and everything in between in the middle of a pandemic in Bea’s vlog.

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez

Dropping life updates via our socials seems the way to go since quarantine started, sometimes leaving a short and sweet caption for everyone else to decode. Well, Ariana Grande did just that. She posted photos of her with her fiancé Dalton Gomez and her pretty ring with the caption “forever n then some.” Everyone was able to put two and two together about her recent engagement. Glad to know that this girlie’s on her way to her happily ever after!

Jonathan Van Ness and Mark Peacock

Prior to 2020, fashion icon, hairdresser and Fab Five member Jonathan Van Ness’s dating history had been unclear since 2018. So as he looked back at the whirlwind that was last year, he also revealed that he married his best friend Mark Peacock to the surprise of many. While no one exactly knows when it happened, the two spent a part of their married life locked in and switching from Zoom call to Zoom call. At least, though, they had each other and their furbabies: a Jack Russel named Pablo and four cats.

Jonathan Benett and Jaymes Vaughan

Jonathan Benett is engaged to his boyfriend-turned-fiancé Jaymes Vaughan! Yes, the Jonathan who played Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls. In an exclusive interview with People, Jaymes said that he and Jonathan never had a song they could fully call theirs; the pair always had wanted to change some parts of those that they liked. This led Jaymes to work on a melody and write a song that they could both call theirs as he popped the question. It’s no brainer that Jonathan said yes (while ugly crying like how all of us would.)

Couples like the ones we listed above found love—and decided to hold onto it for as long as they can. Pardon my cheesiness, but in this era that’s lookin' quite bleak, where the light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t shine quite as bright, seeing other people happy is enough for some of us to feel a semblance of lightness in our hearts.
