Karpos Live Mix 10 Is Coming At You With Phum Viphurit and IV Of Spades

Count us in for Karpos Live Mix 10

We’ve said it before and we’re saying it again: November is a big month for the music scene—and it’s largely in part of Karpos Live. Sticking true to its promise of a series of intimate musical performances by some of the biggest names in the indie music world, November 20 will mark performances by Phum Viphurit and IV Of Spades at The Filinvest Tent, Alabang.

Phum Viphurit

Born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1994, Viphurit Siritip (more commonly known by his nickname, Phum), first broke into the international scene with his single Lover Boy, which has over 48 million views on YouTube. In 2018, he toured internationally and serenaded audiences in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and the United States with his (surprisingly) deep vocals, mellow melodies and endearing personality.

It doesn’t do him justice to single out a genre, but if we had to, we’d say that Neo Soul has its next big thing and his name is Phum.

Karpos Live Mix 10 isn’t Phum’s live debut in the Philippines; he’s performed on our shores before. But we know we’re not alone when we say we’re grateful he’s coming back.

IV of Spades

No stranger to the local scene, IV Of Spades has been making waves in OPM for what seems like forever now—it’s hard to believe that their first single only came out in 2016. And while the 70s style of Zild Benitez, Badjao de Castro and Blaster Silonga certainly can’t be ignored, it really is their distinct hold on funk rock that keeps us glued to their music.

CLAPCLAPCLAP!, the group’s first studio album, is a culmination of the years you wouldn’t guess they’ve lived. They seem new and fresh-faced, but they’ve done their dues. And while we can chalk up the 70s and 80s influences to their parents’ musical tastes, those beats, those lyrics and the way it all comes together in 2019 is proof that the band is aware of itself in the best possible way.
