Time to Suit up: Netflix Unveils the Cast for the Korean Adaptation of ‘Money Heist’

Grab your Dali masks and red jumpsuits, heisters!

Back in 2020, Netflix announced that the Korean adaptation of Money Heist (or La Casa de Papel in Spanish) is happening. Fans (like us!) were on the edge of their seats waiting for the cast to be revealed. We were all left wondering who’d be the faces of the masterminds, gang members and elite police forces trying to catch up. After a few bouts of waiting, Netflix revealed the cast last March 31.

At the Gang’s helm is Yoo Ji-tae as The Professor while Park Hae-soo was casted as the charming Berlin. Part of the roster is also Burning and The Call star Jeon Jong-seo, who will be playing the reckless Tokyo. Check out the full cast below!

Not much about the whole plot was teased. According to Netflix, this adaptation will be set in the Korean Peninsula. Here, its creators will bring their own spin to the familiar storyline that’s been followed by millions—all in 12 episodes. The plot will be following the gang who were picked by The Professor, the hostages, and the Task Force Team trying to foil the heist.

But aside from the cast made up of top talents and the plot, the team behind the remake got us excited for what’s coming too. The director, Kim Hong-sun, has experience from leading supernatural thriller dramas such as The Guest. Meanwhile, the scriptwriters Ryu Yong-jae, Kim Hwan-chae and Choe Sung-jun, were also behind the romance and sci-fi Netflix original K-Drama My Holo Love. Looks like surprises and spins are to be expected for this adaptation!

With what Netflix has told us so far, a lot more questions are running through our heads. Where will The Professor and the Gang strike in South Korea? Will the gang be sporting different masks? Are we getting another anthem aside from Bella Ciao? The possibilities are endless. But one thing’s for sure: we can’t wait for Money Heist’s Korean adaptation to finally drop and get wrecked while watching.
