Nepotism Babies: The It-Girls by Legacy

Nepotism Babies: The It-Girls by Legacy

What do our favorite It-Girls have in common? They're all nepotism babies

The topic of “nepotism babies” has been trending on TikTok, and somehow the people of the internet just figured out that their favorite It-Girls are Hollywood royalty by blood. The new generation of rising stars is both loved and bashed for their privileged lifestyles, and it seems like no one can decide how they feel about it.

But first, what is a nepo baby? They are the children of well-known celebrities who benefit from pursuing the same career as their parents. Their lives are built on skipping lines, heading straight into VIP treatment. But like most accusations of privilege, it doesn’t necessarily mean that these kids do not work hard for what they want. Some of them are genuinely talented go-getters. However, no matter how good they are, they’re still in the running league against the average Joe because of their names.

From the controversial backlash of Brooklyn Beckham’s Burberry campaign to Kendall Jenner’s easy-breezy modeling career—there have been many grudges over these celebrity kids and their interchangeable hobbies.

With 64 million views on #nepotismbaby on TikTok, there’s no denying that there is an obsession with these young stars. Love or hate them, there are people out there wishing they’d be reincarnated as a nepo baby in their next life.

Ahead, we’ve got a list of this year’s most sought-after nepo babies and what they’re up to:

Lily-Rose Depp

The daughter of Johnny Depp and French singer Vanessa Paradis has always been an anticipated superstar in the making, and it seems like the 23-year-old is on the right path. She is currently Chanel’s youngest ambassador and is now starring in HBO’s The Idol alongside The Weeknd. The release date for the series is still unclear but we're excited to see more of everyone's certified dream girl.

Lila Moss

Following in her mom’s footsteps (literally), Kate Moss’ daughter has walked for Fendi, Versace, Richard Quinn and more. The newly crowned British Vogue cover star has also been the face of campaigns such as Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu. Although Lila is signed under her mom’s talent agency, Kate wasn’t on board with her entering the modeling world. The 19-year-old decided to join the industry on her own terms. But hey, if Kate Moss is your mentor, there’s nothing to worry about.

Maya Hawke

Known as Robin Buckley in Stranger ThingsMaya Hawke is the offspring of two Hollywood icons: Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. Maya spent her childhood in film sets and eventually landed a spot at The Juilliard School in New York. Instead of finishing her BFA in acting, she dropped out to take on her role as Jo March in Little Women (2017 series).

Just like her Stranger Things co-stars, the 24-year-old is also musically inclined. In two years, Hawke has released two studio albums. Her second album titled Moss will be released on September 23rd this year!

Maude Apatow

Of course, you probably recognize Lexi Howard anywhere, but many were surprised that actress Maude Apatow is the daughter of Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow. Much like Hawke, Apatow grew up behind-the-scenes but also starred alongside her parents in Knocked Up and This Is 40. Despite her parents practically being Hollywood royalty, Maude has been carving her path and even attended her first Met Gala this year dripped in Cartier.

Zoey Deutch

Soon to be Danni Sanders in Not Okay, Zoey Deutch has had quite a successful run so far with her leading lady roles in Set It Up, Why Him? and Before I Fall. And we can’t forget her bubblegum blonde alter ego in Zombieland. But we can’t seem to distract ourselves from the uncanny resemblance to her mom.

In case you still didn’t get the picture, Zoey is the daughter of actress Lea Thompson and director Howard Deutch. How cool is it knowing your mom was not just in one, but two, iconic ‘80s films? I guess we’ll never know. But if our moms were in Back to the Future and Jaws, you wouldn’t hear the end of it.

Let’s face it. If the multiverse were real, we’d probably want to be a nepo baby in another life. The question is: if you were one, who would your parents be?
