The Acts We’re Most Looking Forward To In BYE2020

AKA why BYE2020 is our plan for NYE

Since we’re gearing up to say our farewells to the year that is 2020 (and all the bad that came with it), we’re glad we can do so in a big way: with BYE2020 and the 28 artists that are set to perform in the online concert.

Set to start at 7PM on December 31, 2020 and with performances and activities that will run for six hours, this is the official list of the local musicians we’re most excited to see:

Ben&Ben

Spotify’s most streamed PH artist of 2020, Ben&Ben, is first up on our list. We’re not quite sure what we’re going to see them perform, but our wish list includes Lifetime, Kathang Isip and Maybe The Night. Our fingers are crossed, but seeing the band perform any song off their library will be great enough for us.

Fern.

While Fern.’s been on our radars for a while now, it wasn’t until Paradise Rising released semilucent that we got a taste of what the artist could do with no limitations. His song on the EP, Kaori, is something we hope to see at BYE2020. Another reason we’re so excited to see his performance is that, during the presscon, he mentioned his run-through and noted how it felt like he was on stage at the Grammy’s.

Seriously, that comment alone got us excited to see what he has in store.

Keiko Necesario

There is a lot to say about Keiko Necesario’s music, but the experience of 2020 has left us with a soft spot for Right Next To You. There’s something about the song that just makes us feel like we’re coming home. And in the uncertainty of the year, a little security is something we’re all looking for.

SB19

After gracing our cover in February this year, SB19 has our hearts not just because of their dance moves and voices, but because of everything they’re saying with their music.  They’ve reshaped the landscape of OPM—and we back them when they say their music should be labeled as such.

Paolo Sandejas

Stalking Paolo Sandejas and his Wish 107.5 Bus performances is a pastime of many of us—and it’s always tickled our interest in the young artist. And with the recent release of of his EP, Purple Afternoon, our interest has only heightened.

What does he have in store for us for BYE2020? We can’t wait to find out.

The Itchyworms

Ah, The Itchyworms. A staple in the OPM world and one of the bands we’re looking forward to seeing perform again. The digital concerts really haven’t taken the spot of on-ground gigs, where we can share a bottle (or three) with friends and just sing to the songs that we grew up with and some we only recently fell in love with. But hey, catching The Itchyworms together again will satiate us enough until it’s safe to visit bars again.
