Our Top 5 Favorite Carpool Karaoke Moments

With James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” coming to a close, we’re feeling extra sentimental

The final farewell for The Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke is undoubtedly one of the toughest goodbyes we’ve ever had to say. Can you imagine never watching your favorite celebrities sing their hearts out together with James Corden? As we shed a few tears reminiscing about all the precious memories we got to witness on the show, we’ve rounded up our top five favorite Carpool Karaoke moments that will forever live on in our hearts (and on the internet). If you’re ready for a tear-jerking read, grab a tissue and brace yourself for all the feels.

A friendship with Adele

The bond that Adele and James Corden share goes beyond friendship—they’re basically family! And over the course of the past two Carpool Karaoke shows that Adele guested in (both in 2016 and for the finale last week), we got to witness the two deepen their bond as they share some of the most intimate and touching stories together. Not only do they showcase an amazing performance of Adele’s famous hits (and some spicy covers on the side, too), but they also allow us a peek into their lives and how inseparable they’ve both become through their shared experiences in the industry.

The finale was nothing less of a tear-jerker—and as Adele’s 2016 appearance ranks top one on Carpool Karaoke’s most viewed episodes, we’re sure that she’ll hit phenomenal records for this finale as well.

The Tony Awards episode with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Audra McDonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jane Krakowski

Next on the list goes out to all the theater kids! As James Corden hosted the 2016 Tony Awards, it was only fitting that he brought on some of the biggest names on Broadway—Lin-Manuel Miranda, Audra McDonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jane Krakowski—to sing their hearts out to Broadway classics with him on his car ride in New York. As always, James never fails to match the energy of his guests as he gave one of his most impressive performances alongside the biggest talents on Broadway—from rapping Hamilton to belting Les Miserables, he nailed every beat!

Romcom madness with Harry Styles

Besides belting out a couple of hits from Harry’s first-ever album, James also gave us a cheeky peek into the acting potential that Harry had within him as they reenacted some of the most iconic romcom films of all time! With Harry’s first film appearance on Dunkirk freshly released during the making of this Carpool Karaoke episode back in 2017, Harry got to show off his newfound love for acting as they recreated scenes from Notting Hill and Titanic. Fast forward to today where we get to watch Harry on the big screen for films like Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman, this Carpool Karaoke episode serves as major foreshadowing to the successful acting career Harry has had in recent years!

Belting out for a cause with Michelle Obama

As the Obama era came to a close during the filming of this Carpool Karaoke episode, we got to witness the former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, sing along to Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered and even got a little Single Ladies moment, too! As she was giving James a little tour of the White House, Michelle got to share an advocacy close to her heart—providing girls across the world with the opportunity to study and gain access to basic education. With a special appearance of Missy Elliot to jam out to This Is For My Girls, the trio made a remarkable stand as they made use of their platform for a great cause!

Geeking out to Harry Potter with Shawn Mendes

Once a Potterhead, always a Potterhead—and Shawn Mendes is a testament to that! It’s one thing to know that one of your favorite celebrities loves the same books you grew up reading, but another thing entirely to see them dress up in full costume and obsess about it just as much as you have. In this episode of Carpool Karaoke, James brings up Shawn’s deep love and obsession for all things Harry Potter, and no matter how much Shawn tried to play it down, he just couldn’t hide his love for it! His cosplays were extremely accurate and served as fan service for both Shawn Mendes fans and Potterheads all over the world.

We’ll surely miss all the fun and crazy moments on the many car rides we got to share with James and his guests, but of course, we wish nothing but the best for James and the future he has ahead of him!
