7 Things You Should Never Apologize For

Give yourself a break sometimes!

There’s a lot of talk about millennials being history’s most sensitive generation. But if we’re going to talk about sensitive, it’s not exclusive to the millennial generation. There are people that fall within all ends, corners and swivels of every opinion-spectrum. There are the extreme liberals, the extreme conservatives and everyone else that falls in between.

But no matter what other people think, there are just some things you should never be apologetic about.

Choosing to have kids (or not)

As humans, we’ve gotten pretty far in terms of acceptance. Despite this, there are still some people that will look down on your choice not to have kids, having them too early, having them too late, not having enough or having too many. But hey, it’s your body, it’s your money, it’s your life and it’s your future.

Choosing your career or chasing your passion

People say to follow your passion like it’s the easiest thing in the world. Then there are those people that say you should choose a career because you need to make a living. So whether you choose to struggle for your craft or work a desk job, don’t feel guilty about it. If you aren’t harming or neglecting anyone, then what does it matter what you do with your time?

Treating yourself

What you make is your money. If you’ve saved up enough and decide to buy yourself a designer bag or some new mags for your car, go for it. You worked for that.

Forgiving someone

When you choose to forgive someone, you’re doing it for yourself as much as the person you’re actually forgiving. So no matter how dumb, disrespectful or outright disgusting that thing they did to you is, let it go if you’re ready to let it go. There’s no reason to let someone else’s opinion on the matter bring you back to that dark place. And besides, if it happened to you and you got over it, everyone else should do.

Liking something

Seriously, why are guilty pleasures a thing? Why can’t we just openly like whatever it is we like? If you’re 25 and like the Jonas Brothers, sing along to their songs. If you’re 15 and like black and white movies, stock up on them and watch to your heart’s content.

Starting over

If you ever get to the point in your life when you know you aren’t in the right place, never forget that there’s always a way to turn back. If you’ve been in a relationship for so long that people already know you’re going to get married, but you find yourself unable to keep going anymore, just end if. If you’re on a clear career path you suddenly find yourself unhappy with, switch things up.

Saying no

If you don’t want it, don’t feel guilty for saying no. This applies to free drinks, free rides and even the smart, nice and generous people that are interested in you. If you don’t want it, say so, walk away and don’t feel bad for doing so.

When it all comes down to it, you should never apologize for something that you do for yourself—especially if it doesn’t hurt anyone and even more so if it helps you be happy.
