Easy Habits to Incorporate Into Your Routine That Will Make You Feel You Again: College Edition

Prioritize yourself with these easy-to-do daily habits

We have to admit it to ourselves. There comes a time in our college lives when it really isn’t all fun and games anymore. You have to get on top of that mountainous pile of academic requirements, org work deliverables and internship deadlines. Then secure enough sleep to keep you up the next day. So, that may leave you with little to no time for the things you actually want to do and habits that you resolve to practice on the daily.

Time is of the essence for college students with a million extracurriculars. Though time may be limited, it’s important to make time for yourself and keep yourself sane through it all. With that, we list down easy-to-do daily habits you can incorporate into your routines to make you feel you again (and to remind you that you’re more than your academics).

Affirmations, affirmations, affirmations

Repeat after us: I am healthy, I am wealthy, I am rich, I am that bitch. The power of affirmations in the morning before you head off to your first destination is actually life-changing. Starting your day by saying one positive statement directed to yourself may take some getting used to, but it shifts negative energy away from you—encouraging you to kick off the day with a little self-love and a self-esteem boost. To yourself, from yourself.

Intention setting to set you up for the day

What do you want to be today? Some days are for that hustle, go-go-go energy, and other days require a softer, gentler approach. Whatever it is that you want to be on a certain day, whether productive, kind or mindful, hold onto it, and let it influence your energy for the rest of the day. Setting an intention allows you to be more directed and committed, focusing on who you are and the person you want to be.

Get some sleep. Seriously

Trust us, whatever’s making you stay up until three in the morning can wait. Your body needs rest to allow you to function at your best during the day. Make it a habit to get the required hours of sleep every night.

Fresh air and regular walks fix all

A little fresh air and regular walks can go a long, long way. Incorporating this into your daily routine can help you clear your head, reflect and even get a bit of exercise in (especially for those who can’t make time to go to the gym with their packed schedules). With everything going on in your life, take a few minutes each day to just walk and breathe it all in.
