Keep The Conversation Going: Join Mind You For The National Mental Health Summit

Attendance to Mind You's National Mental Health Summit is free; let’s make it mandatory

Most conversations worth having don’t need a specific month or day to be discussed—especially when that conversation circles around mental health. But the point of having celebrations like Women’s Month, Pride Month or Mental Health Awareness Month isn’t to box in the conversations; it’s so that they get the attention they so rightfully deserve. And because it’s October, we’re hitting up the National Mental Health Summit with Mind You.

With a theme of MY Kapwa (a play on the Mind You’s initials and the reminder of fostering compassion for ourselves and for our communities), the free-for-all event is taking place on October 22, 2023, at the BGC Amphitheater in Taguig City from 8AM to 6:30PM.

Mind You was founded in 2018 by a diverse group of five individuals, and aims to make mental health accessible and affordable for Filipinos. With key leaders who have experience both in the Philippines and internationally, Mind You provides data-driven mental health solutions for anyone who wants or needs it. The National Mental Health Summit is just one of its key activities where they hope to elevate the conversation and action points surrounding mental health locally.

With the support of The Medical City and Taguig City, MY Kapwa will tackle several key topics: the importance of a support system, breaking mental health stigmas, harnessing the courage to be seen and overcoming stress and anxiety. Moreover, the event will shed light on the current state of mental health in the Philippines—finally, something specific to our pyche—and will offer a day of group therapy with breakout sessions and talks from mental health experts and advocates. Mind You partners Nadine Lustre and Yassi Pressman will also be at the event.

The conversation on mental health has been going on for a quite a while, and it’s an important one to be part of. Most of us have parents who refuse to acknowledge it—sometimes, unless it’s too late. Some bosses don’t quite understand what could trigger an employee to suddenly stop working as efficiently as they used to. Most of us have a friend that has mental concerns, but cannot get the help they need. Most of us have struggled with it ourselves. We know the story a little too well, and the narrative won’t change unless we decide to change it. Besides, Mind You is a local group aiming to address local issues, and that’s the biggest step we can take into the right direction.

So join the conversation. Be at the BGC Amphitheater this October 22, 2023, and be part of the narrative.
