Supermodels Do It Better: Claudia Schiffer’s Most Iconic Moments in Her 30 Years in the Industry

She caps off this anniversary with her very own limited-edition makeup collection

“Cut from a different cloth…and they don’t make that fabric anymore.” No other adage describes the era of the original supermodel quite as perfectly. And it’s unmistakable just looking at the body of work of supermodel-turned-mogul Claudia Schiffer in particular, who comprised the “The Big Five” along with fellow legends Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford in the ‘90s.

In her 30 years in the industry, the German-born blue-eyed, blonde bombshell has walked for every major designer, sat in the makeup chairs of the world’s most sought-after artists and fronted hundreds of fashion magazines (she set a record appearing on 500 covers in a span of four years). Today, she’s putting to use all the trade secrets she’s picked up along the way as she launches her own cosmetics collection with Germany’s number one cosmetics brand, ARTDECO. “When I first started modeling, I was so shy on set where everyone was looking at me–but as soon as I had my makeup look for the day I was able to become someone else,” said Schiffer, looking back at experiences that made her realize a foray into beauty was her next calling. “The more dramatic the makeup look the more silly, sexy or outrageous I felt I could be. Afterwards, even I would look at the pictures and think, ‘I can’t believe that’s me.’”

This is the “aha” moment—the boost of confidence—Schiffer wants to share with fellow makeup lovers and fans through her line, an extensive 28-piece collection that offers failsafe beauty looks for any occasion with the quality of high fashion, professional makeup that’s also easy to use. With the storied career she’s had, we’d definitely love to have whatever she’s having. Ahead, a look at just some of the career-defining moments that solidified Claudia Schiffer’s position in the industry.
