The Best Drugstore Foundations for Morenas

The Best Drugstore Foundations for Morenas (for Every Skin Type)

Read Time: 5 minutes

With a wide spectrum of shades, you’ll surely find a match

Do you recall the familiar sight of ladies with a shade—or two—lighter than their faces (and necks!) while strolling in the mall? I admit that at some point, I was guilty of this, too. Fortunately, gone are the days when Pinays had to tolerate a small selection of cakey foundation shades in the drugstore. We’re past that, ladies and gents. Still, this is far-off when it comes to other makeup bases like BB creams, cushion foundations and tinted moisturizers—Korea, I’m looking at you—with only two to three shades available in their roster. But, I do acknowledge that we’ve come a long way!

For my proud morenas and morenos, we’ve found the crème de la crème of foundations from the drugstore and we’ve got recommendations for every skin type. Scroll away!

L’Oréal Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation

Shade Count: 8

Best for: All Skin Types

Price: P700

Lovers of the Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation, meet the Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation! A personal favorite of mine, it’s my actual ride-or-die. It’s created with breathable-skin technology and contains hyaluronic acid for comfortable all-day wear. It even incorporates sunscreen with SPF 25. (But please, use a separate product for sun protection—I bet you already knew that.) Best of all, it fades with a dewy, demi-matte finish throughout the day; skin ends up looking like skin. It’s perfect for those who don’t like the feeling of foundation on skin!

L’Oréal True Match Liquid Foundation

Shade Count: 12

Best for: Dry to Combination Skin

Price: P550

The first foundation I ever fell in love with is this drugstore staple. The True Match Liquid foundation gives you your skin but better! The weightless, satin formula adjusts to your skin texture and blends seamlessly. Color-wise, it has a fairly wide spectrum of shades from warm, cool to neutral tones. It’s so comfortable on skin that you’ll actually forget you’re wearing foundation!

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation

Shade Count: 20

Best for: All Skin Types

Price: P399

Everybody’s holy grail foundation now comes with a pump—finally, no more spilling! The weightless, non-comedogenic formula is ideal for all skin types and is great for everyday wear. Plus, it’s easy to find a match with 20 shades available locally. Note that it won’t conceal acne or hyperpigmentation, it simply minimizes the appearance of pores. Dare I say that it’s a foundation suitable for (already) “good,” model-off-duty skin. The repackaged favorite is also available in a tube (P299) and a sachet (P49, only available in Mercury Drug), which are both travel-friendly.

For your plakado, “Instagram baddie” fantasies, this full-coverage foundation conceals your blemishes, your baggage and the sins of your past. This brings your no filter, Airbrushed dreams to life! Still not convinced? It’s an Allure Best of Beauty 2018 winner. Pro-tip: Mix a few drops of your favorite beauty oil to thin out the texture and hydrate the skin to give it a flawless, luminous finish.

Pink Sugar Our Lil' Secret Liquid Foundation - Drugstore Foundations For Morenas

Pink Sugar Our Lil’ Secret Liquid Foundation

Shade Count: 7

Best for: Combination to Oily Skin

Price: P399

This local favorite was created a few years after its hit counterpart: the game-changing Our Lil’ Secret Concealer. The lightweight version of the concealer is pigmented and long-lasting; it promises all-day wear! It delivers a matte finish, which doesn’t look flat—perfect for this humid weather.

L.A. Girl Pro Coverage HD Illuminating Foundation - Drugstore Foundations For Morenas

L.A. Girl Pro Coverage HD Illuminating Foundation

Shade Count: 6

Best for: Dry to Combination Skin

Price: P799

An actual dupe for the Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation, the long-wearing product covers redness, brightens the complexion and leaves skin with a natural finish. It goes on smoothly providing light to medium coverage; plus, it’s transfer-proof! The packaging also comes with a pump dispenser to ensure a mess-free application. If you despise the heavy, matte feel of foundations, this may just be an answered prayer!

wet n wild Photo Focus Foundation - Drugstore Foundations For Morenas

wet n wild Photo Focus Foundation

Shade Count: 10

Best for: Combination to Oily Skin

Price: P599

Cruelty-free brands are sparse in the drugstore and wet n wild is just one of the few that doesn’t test on animals. The Photo Focus Foundation is every beauty YouTuber’s favorite from the drugstore; after all, it looks fantastic on camera! It comes in a stick foundation, too. The high-performing formula hides pigmentation, acne and other blemishes. Now, if you’re sensitive to scents, you might want to pass on this one because of its strong paint thinner-like smell.

Revlon PhotoReady Candid Anti-Pollution Foundation - Drugstore Foundations For Morenas

Revlon PhotoReady Candid Anti-Pollution Foundation

Shade Count: 12

Best for: Combination to Oily Skin

Price: P575

Inspired by skincare, the new Revlon PhotoReady Foundation is infused with antioxidants and anti-blue light ingredients. The creamy, weightless texture feels like a moisturizer but covers like a foundation! The shade range is incomparable with 12 tone matching shades. It delivers a medium, buildable coverage, which leaves skin hydrated all day long.
