Meet OHTNYC: The Asian-Owned Jewelry Brand Sported by Your Faves

As seen on 88RISING stars, K-pop idols and more

Silver chained jewelry seems to be a staple accessory for Fall 2021, from the glamorous red carpets and the busy city streets to the palpable thrum of music festivals. Sure, gold jewelry will always stay timeless and classic—for keeps. But cool-toned metallic accessories are now sharing the spotlight with warm bling as one of the dominant trends in accessorizing. And we’re here for it.

I’m not too sure when or where silver got its revival. Refinery29 points to the 90s and Y2K resurgence. Meanwhile, Vogue believes it’s a trend by moguls like Rihanna, Beyoncé and Kim K. No matter the origin, though, there’s a rising Asian-owned jewelry brand that’s been giving our fave acts their go-to silver accessories.

World, meet OHTNYC.

Co-founders Jinsol Woo and Lin Ye continue to break boundaries with their brand. From presenting androgynous jewelry and redefining what it means to be “appropriate” in the world of fashion, OHTNYC is making its mark. The jewelry brand appears to be one of the emerging names with icons from around the world rocking their items, from K-pop idols like Eunha to keshi and his custom HITC piece.

Extra always means more as far as OHT is concerned. Call it gothic-chic with a dash of cute. Pearls and different shining crystals highlight their signature bold chains, while hearts and crosses accentuate select pieces. At the same time, their most recent Isolation collection features butterflies and spikes as the main elements. These can be called an unconventional mix, but one that makes the brand highly sought-after and unique.

While one might think that the unique blend of styles can only work with gothcore fits alone, each OHT piece is versatile enough to fit any style. So check it out: it adds a dash of edge to the ATARASHII GAKKO’s school uniforms (above), breaks the neutral boho-chic Yeonjun of TXT’s Chaotic Wonderland outfit (up ahead) and illuminates glamorous magazine spreads like Halle Bailey. Safe to say that OHTNYC’s necklaces, rings, earrings and body chains are here to stay.

Though if you're a gold jewelry loyalist through and through, don't fret. OHTNYC also offers some of their popular necklaces in gold, such as the Barbell Piercing Choker, Matura Diamond Ring Necklace and Spike Necklace with Swarovski Crystal.

“Chained accessories are forever,” our editors proudly proclaimed in our Off Balance editorial back in 2018. This year, the statement remarkably holds true, especially with OHTNYC appearing—and staying—on our radars.
