Beauty Made Easy: Must-Have Products from Issy & Co.

Championing inclusive beauty products formulated with skin-nurturing ingredients

Let me confess: It feels strange to feel excited about a stream of new beauty releases in the midst of an economic crisis. But now that we’re more than half a year into the pandemic, I’ve learned to displace these feelings of guilt, especially when I’ve accepted that this is also part of self-care and being kind to myself. Self-management is beneficial in the long run, even if that means having the disciplineand desire—to put on a quick 5-minute face every now and then to have a semblance of normalcy under these circumstances. After all, if there’s something I’ve embraced this quarantine, it’s that I don’t wear makeup to be seen.

Local brands continue to innovate and follow through with the demands of, might I add, educated consumers. Homegrown brand Issy & Co. is a new obsession of mine, with every release of theirs going beyond my expectations. I’ve searched far and wide for high quality, bang for your buck makeup in the market, and it truly is “beauty made easy.”

Their most recent collaboration with YouTube sensation Alex Gonzaga comes as no surprise, with the video creator being the face of the brand from the very first release back in 2019. They have always championed inclusive beauty products formulated with skin-nurturing ingredients for different skin types and skin tones. Ahead, the must-have products from their collectionI’ve had the great opportunity to try and test for the past weeks.

Crème Blush (P349)

I’ve had my fair share of cream blushes throughout the years as a powder-to-cream blush convert, with most products costing a staggering sum. I’ve acquainted myself with the diverse selection of easy-to-apply blushes from Issy & Co., which have become a staple in my routine. I can only say good things about it! ⁣

Available in five Filipina-friendly shades, with peachy, pinkish and darker brown hues, these easily provide warmth and color to the face. It’s even formulated with SPF15 for added sun protection. Best of all, it’s a multi-use product, which can be used as a lip color or an eyeshadow base.

I think this may be my favorite formulation of all time because it doesn’t drag on to skin and leaves a buildable yet sheer—but long-lasting—coverage. My all-time favorites for day to day happen to be Good Girl and Femme Rose (a bit identical but differ in saturation); both give off a rosy pink glow for day to day!

Lip Mousse (P399)

Even if we’re all wearing masks indefinitely, it’s oddly comforting to have on a good lip product. Lately, I’m all about balms and lip oils but I’m making an exception for the weightless and pigmented Lip Mousse. Choose from six shades: Babe, Rom Com, Fiancée, Rose Brown, Private and Smoked Blush.

Formulated with rosehip oil and vitamin E, it helps maintain the soft and youthful texture of the lips, which I’m all about. The soft mousse formula leaves a satin-soft, matte texture that gives a barely-there sensation. Believe me when I say that there are no touch-ups needed within the day, it’s that good.

Brow Refiner (P349)

And I just needed to include an oldie but a goodie, the cult favorite Brow Refiner. I never get excited about brow products, but this is something else! It has two sides, one with castor oil to help hair growth (can be used on lashes, too!) and a brow gel on the opposite end to sculp, tint and tame brows. Available in clear, ash and brown for the best brows of your life. Don’t forget to use alongside their Brow Pencil!
