Julia Barretto Gets Real About Seasons with Juju and More

Julia Barretto speaks on the growth she saw with The Juju Club

It’s no secret that apart from appearing on screen, Julia Barretto also switches hats as an entrepreneur. In 2021, she launched The Juju Club to bring good juju wherever you go—thanks to its wide array of accessories. A year later, she opened a pop-up store in Quezon City to bring The Juju Club closer to eager followers and newcomers. Flash forward to now, Julia Barretto expands The Juju Club’s offerings to Seasons with Juju. This swimwear collection serves more purpose than just swimming in the water and just in time for summer.

Seasons with Juju come in nine stylish pieces and three neutral colorways, ranging from extra small to extra large. The one-piece swimsuits, priced from P2,950 to P3,200, can also double as bodysuits as these come with classic necklines for all preferences. For one, the Mira one-piece offers a plain scooped neckline, while the Kai one-piece offers a versatile high-neck halter top. Meanwhile, separate pieces start at P1,250, whether you need the no-fail high-waist bikini bottom called the Marina or the Cari string tube swim top. Seasons with Juju has your back, especially if you need a bralette for warmer days that doubles as a fashionable ensemble for a cooling dip.

Julia Barretto’s drive to work on the collection is rooted in her desire to create a flexible line of which uses aren’t limited to the pool or the beach. “I just want [the pieces] to be worn everywhere. I love innerwear. I love anything you can easily just throw something on top of,” she shares in an exclusive with Wonder. “So I wanted to create something that can look good outside and at the beach. As someone who loves her basics, I want it to be true to who I am and have it translated into the brand.” This love for versatile pieces also influenced her decision to focus on a neutral palette.

The entrepreneur isn’t also closing her doors on expanding in colors and sizes for Seasons with Juju. “This is our first launch, so we want to see which sizes people will be calling for. I think we're very flexible as we speak, with XS to XL available. But if we have some customers na madami sila (that a lot of them) who are hoping for even more than that, then definitely,” she shares.

Apart from expanding via a swimwear collection, The Juju Club also opens on Lazada and its official website, where international shipping has become possible. The move, as major as it is, became a reality because of some requests from fellow club members abroad. “That's such a compliment on its own: we have possible customers from all over the world! So I didn't want to miss that opportunity,” she explains. “I want it na makarating talaga sa kanila, I want it to reach them.” But, of course, jitters always come with such milestone. After all, expanding your customer base globally is no joke. Julia Barretto remains positive, “I have such a hardworking team, so I have no doubt that we'll pull this off.”

Looking back at The Juju Club’s inception, Julia also laments her struggles as a business owner. “At the end of the day, it's not about who you are and what kind of platform you already have. The real challenge is sustaining the brand and maintaining what it has already built for itself,” she admits. “Of course, it's such a challenge for me always to come up [with something] and be innovative, to always have something fun and exciting for the customers can look forward to.” Despite challenges that can spook the best entrepreneurs, Julia believes working hard has its trade-offs. “It's not easy, but it's worth it, it's really fulfilling. I'm proud of this brand because it represents who I am.”

On the horizon, Julia Barretto dreams of The Juju Club making it internationally. In her own words, “[The Juju Club] has been all about spreading Juju, so we don't want just to stop here. We still have a long way to go.”
