Skincare and makeup in one pigmented swoop
Whenever I write about trending topics, the filing cabinet in my brain immediately brings out memories of watching Project Runway. Right before the final judging in each episode, Heidi Klum would famously say, āOne day youāre in, the next day youāre out.ā No truer words have been spokenāeven in the realm of beauty.
No matter how trend-averse you think you are, our lives are governed by trendsābecause most of them spring directly from our needs. When masks became a staple, we began looking for transfer-proof foundation and lipstick. When Zoom meetings became the prime means for human interaction, we made some necessary changes. Now that weāre on our eleventh (yes, eleventh) month of indoor imposition, the tectonic plates of beauty trends have shifted yet again.
Accepting the large possibility of having to stay home for at least a few more months and recognizing maskne as a real threat, beauty is now all about skinimalism. We want to see our real skin. Feel it, appreciate it, nourish it. On the other hand, we wantāor need?āsomething that will make us look like we arenāt being weighed down by the collective dread that weāre carrying.
One beauty product falls right in that intersection. Makeup, meet skincare. World, meet serum blush.
The most popular iteration on the market is easily Em Cosmeticsā Color Drops Serum Blush, but several local brands have stepped up with their own versions of nourishing cheek tints. Discover the ones weāve got our eyes on up ahead!

Glass Drops Serum Blush by Whimsy
With compact packaging and a convenient doe-foot applicator at an extremely friendly price point, we can immediately see why the Glass Drops Serum Blush (P169) requires frequent restocks. It can be applied on the cheeks and the lips and comes in three soft shades. This is the kind of failsafe we would pick up and tuck into our pockets without second thought.
However, we need to talk about the ingredients. Whimsyās take on serum blush might not be as nourishing as the rest on this list. The main ingredients list Paraffinum Liquidum and Caprylic/?Capric Triglyceride as the main components of the formula, but the former doesnāt do all that much to actually nourish the skin. Instead, it sits pretty on the surface and prevents water loss, but thatās still a good thing! Partnered with the second ingredient on the list, the Glass Drops Serum Blush still leaves the skin soft, smooth and natural-looking.
Keep an eye on Whimsyās Shopee page for a restock!
