Looking to upgrade your look? SVS Salon Makati will give you double tap-worthy hair
There’s just something about that female K-drama bida—covetable skin that never seems to age, double tap-worthy hair and an always put-together ensemble. While designer clothes off the runway may be harder (see: expensive) to get our hands on, a pamper session can bring us closer to fulfilling our K-drama dreams.
Best believe that a trendy hairstyle can easily transform any look, whether that’s a rounded bob with face-framing bangs like Park So-Dam in A Beautiful Mind (2016) or a shoulder-length bob like Song Hye Kyo in The Glory (2022).

Davao’s premier Korean beauty salon, SVS Salon (Super Visual Salon), is finally in Manila! At the helm is Sir Deeno Jeong, a Grade III trichologist (hair and scalp specialist) as certified by the Korea Association of Trichologists and a professional hairstylist. Having established a salon empire in the third most populous city in the country, he hopes to do the same in Manila—starting with Makati.
I had an opportunity to have a full-on makeover ala Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries. I realized that my hair was so damaged from regular use of styling tools and, well, the sun. I still had my highlights, too, all the way from November 2022. My roots were growing out and not the cute balayage-like kind. My hair was all over the place!
The four-hour pamper session started with partial highlights on my curtain bangs, which give the illusion of full highlights. I referenced Hailey Bieber’s gold-tinged brunette for the rest of my hair. Given my current hair color—and without the need to bleach (thank God)—I got something pretty close. TL;DR, I love it!
If there’s one thing I did learn from a few hours in the salon, their establishment highlights hair and scalp health over anything else. I tried the “One Step Solution” from SVS Salon and Shiseido Professional, which is a hair and scalp treatment to remove chemicals from my earlier treatments. This completely resurrected my hair from beyond the grave. It’s the healthiest my hair has looked and felt in a long time!
And, of course, I had to get a signature cut from Sir Deeno—an above-the-shoulder box bob with curtain bangs like every K-drama girly on TV. If anyone’s looking to change their look this year, he recommends bangs, bangs, bangs!
