An exciting collab that will take you on a trip (albeit mentally for now)
There are few things that excite us these days. One of them is a good high-low or designer-accessible retailer collaboration—or, an unexpected one. With Gucci, you never really know what to expect. All we know is that when Gucci met The North Face, sparks flew and an exciting collaboration was born.
The matchup between the Italian fashion house and the American outdoor recreation brand celebrates the spirit of exploration in the literal and metaphorical sense. With Alessandro Michele’s Gucci inspiring curiosity and wanderlust through every collection and The North Face enabling the adventure seeker’s lifestyle, the partnership reinforces the idea that travel leads to a better understanding of not just our surroundings, but ourselves. It empowers people to express themselves, their characters and personalities through the activities they engage in and the clothes they wear.
The North Face x Gucci features ready-to-wear pieces for men and women, as well as soft accessories, luggage, shoes, tent and sleeping bags made for the great outdoors. Meanwhile, the colorways and silhouettes are inspired by the seventies and borrowed from The North Face’s library. Archival fabrics were also incorporated in the collection as a nod to the brand’s heritage and to give it a 21st century spin.
What we have our eyes on is the gender-neutral hiking boots with chunky and sturdy Goodyear-welted soles. Available in three colors, brown, black and cream, it features eyelets and rope-like striped laces, as well as The North Face x Gucci logo on the side.
In line with both brands’ commitment to eco-sustainability, part of the materials used in the collection, particularly for the luggage, are made from regenerated fish nets, carpets and other scrap. Such materials can be further recycled and recreated, allowing fashion and retail to help decrease the industry’s ecological footprint. Even the packaging, which for this collection comes in head-turning pink and with The North Face’s and Gucci’s logos emblazoned at the front, was strategically designed to reduce its environmental impact. Materials are from sustainably managed forests, uncoated paper was used to ensure it is fully recyclable and boxes feature handles to avoid the use of shopping bags.
