Where we’re from, everyone lives in black and white with the occasional a peek of color here or a sparkly detail there. But sometimes, you just want to change things up and you want to try on something new. And that’s exactly the style challenge Wonder’s art director, Alex Lara took on this month.

Hi Alex, can you describe your everyday style to us in three words?
Comfortable, classic and with a pinch of rock n’ roll.
How often do you wear color or prints in a week?
Once a week? Or less (because this writer disagreed).
We made you try and mix in a pink shirt and a few pieces from the menswear collection into your everyday wardrobe for a week. What were your initial thoughts?
Got scared with the bright colors, particularly the pink shirt because I don’t wear pink.
Can you share some style tips on how you put each look together?
| FRESH PRODUCE
Sometimes it’s not bad to look like an eggplant and I was feeling particularly gloomy that day so I thought some color would help change my mood.

Style tip on wearing complementary colors: If you were going to wear colors together, focus on using pieces with a simplistic style (in terms of cut and silhouette). The neutral colors of my accessories (a pearl choker and black sock boots) helped ground my look for work. |

SCHOOL OF ROCK
I wanted to channel a bit of David Bowie and old school rock.

Style tip on wearing prints and making it rock n’ roll:
Any shirt can be rock n’ roll. You just need the right pieces and attitude to go with it, like high-waisted velvet pants and a scarf. Unbutton the shirt until your sternum to look less like a schoolboy and more like IDGAF.

I wanted to look like a Victorian poet (laughs). The shirt was surprisingly cool despite layering two items.

Style tip on warm colors and layering:
Pairing colors of different tones is not a bad thing. All you need is a neutral color to ease your way into tonal dressing. (On layering) it’s challenging to layer here in Manila but going with light materials will help make it more weather-appropriate. |

Ya look great! The styles are wearable and very much still you. Now how do you feel after the style challenge?
For the longest time I felt like I had nothing to wear. But this challenge helped me rediscover pieces in my wardrobe I forgot I own.
