Wonder Test Drive Diaries: Vans Old Skool Overt ComfyCush

We take the Old Skool Overt ComfyCush around town to test just how comfortable it really is

Ever felt like your feet are on fire? Maybe because of the heat, moving around a lot or wearing closed shoes for way too long. On fire is exactly how my feet feel like when I’m out for work or a full day of errands. I have yet to find a pair that can take me places while keeping my feet cool and comfy. Enter the all-new Vans Old Skool Overt ComfyCush, which might just be the salve to some of my podiatric woes. This shoe combines classic style with next-level comfort, thanks to the updated 360-degree ComfyCush foam midsole.

The Old Skool Overt ComfyCush features a roomier interior but with the same sporty fit and a molded removable insole for extended comfort. Meanwhile, the exterior boasts a modern silhouette, a rubber outsole plate for better grip, and extra foam along the shoe’s collar, tongue and quarter panels. Vans Old Skool Overt CC comes in two colorways: calming sand/white and classic black/white.

For Wonder’s Test Drive Diaries, I took my Old Skool Overt ComfyCush in sand/white around town, from the junk shop to a work event.

First impressions

I was excited to unbox this pair because I’ve been looking for chunky but lightweight shoes, and I’m happy to report Vans didn’t disappoint. The Old Skool Overt ComfyCush looks just as good in pictures as it does in real life. The sole is extra thick but not heavy to carry or wear. No serious gripe, but was worried about keeping it clean given that suede fabric was used on the toe. Also found the laces to be too long, but I tuck them inside anyway so it’s really not an issue. When worn, Old Skool Overt CC fits perfectly with just enough room for your feet to breathe. This Vans modernized classic gets plus points for the extra foam in key areas. It offers next-level comfort and support that will add a spring in your step. Did I mention? The colorway makes it easy to pair and style this skate shoe with virtually anything in my closet: shirt and bike shorts, white button-down and baggy jeans, oversized blazer and leather mini skirt, and other combinations one can think of. The styling possibilities are endless.

Ahead, an account of my activities, steps and comfort level while wearing Vans Old Skool Overt CC:
