Beauty Looks Were Served at the MTV VMAs 2022

Beauty Looks Were Served at the MTV VMAs 2022

From Taylor Swift to BLACKPINK, here are show-stopping beauty looks from this year's MTV Video Music Awards

The recently concluded MTV Video Music Awards is buzzworthy for plenty of reasons—where do we even start? Master storyteller Taylor Swift announced a new album, Midnights, highlighting “stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life,” which will be out in late October. Fergie and Jack Harlow performed a mash-up of First Class and Glamorous, to the delight of Millennials everywhere. BLACKPINK’s Lisa scored a historic win with her chart-topping single LALISA, the first female K-pop artist to do so.

We’re still on a high from one of the music and entertainment industry’s biggest nights. We can’t deny that we’re also still reeling from the beauty looks at the VMAs, a balanced mix of maximalist and minimalist looks. Here are our top picks:

Taylor Swift

God is a woman, and her name is Taylor Swift. The singer-songwriter was clothed in an Oscar de la Renta number dripped in crystals, which perfectly matched her bejeweled eye look ala Mirrorball. The look was created by none other than beauty mogul Pat McGrath.

Though Taylor is entering a new era, she’s still returning to her Red roots. Want to know the exact lip combo she’s wearing? It’s a mix of PAT McGRATH LABS’ PermaGel Ultra Lip Pencil in Bloodlust and Deep Dive, topped off with the LiquiLUST in Elson 4.

BLACKPINK

The K-Pop girl group made their debut at a US awards show with their jaw-dropping Pink Venom performance, and at the same night won the Best Metaverse Performance award. They turned heads at the red carpet, too, with polished beauty looks highlighting face-framing bangs to balance out their gothic-glam fashion.

P.S. It’s confirmed: Taylor Swift is a BLINK, just like the rest of us!

Cameron Dove

The MTV VMAs Best New Artist winner, Cameron Dove, ate and left no crumbs with her 90s-themed look. A frosted eyeshadow and nude gloss combo takes us back to the days when we always had a fruity-scented lip balm or a sparkly gloss in our kikay kits.

Måneskin

The Eurovision 2021 winners sported their signature smoky eye, and we simply can’t get enough of their sultry looks. A cheeky slip may have happened during their performance, but we’re simply reminded that wardrobe malfunctions happen, even to the best of us.

Nicki Minaj

Barbie Pink is the color of the year, and Nicki Minaj is here for it! The Video Vanguard awardee donned a bubblegum pink wig, reminiscent of her early years in the industry. Of course she just had to wear her signature fuchsia-colored lipstick!

Special mention: Jimmy Fallon

A man with chipped nail polish (most likely done by his adorable daughters Winnie and Frances) isn’t exactly breaking beauty standards, but we still love Jimmy Fallon for it. And the headlines are right; his scruffy beard is causing thirst and confusion.
