Alexander McQueen introduces The Hobo and The Slash

Meet the two bags from the Pre-Spring/Summer 2023 collection

Left: The Slash Bag, Right: The Hobo Bag

Before the year ends, Alexander McQueen debuts two handbags from the Pre-Spring/Summer 2023 collection: The Slash and The Hobo. Both bags feature a statement embellishment aptly called the Knuckle, referencing the knuckle duster. Made of antique silver and gold metal, the Knuckle combines two contrasting elements: the urban toughness and grit and the beauty and refinement of jewelry. The Knuckle’s skull motif aligns with punk’s signature style and the Victorian concept of “memento mori (remember that you [have to] die).” The gothic theme stands in divergence to the embedded flowers and studded crystal that surrounds the piece.

The Hobo bag comes in small and mini sizes and can either be hand-held, worn on the shoulder cross-body with the chain shoulder strap. The bag also has the McQueen Knuckle closure and skull motif. Meanwhile, The Slash bag is crafted in padded leather, bearing the house’s signature sliced and slashed type of tailoring. The purse also has the McQueen Knuckle embellishment, which can be worn over the shoulder with the metal strap.

In the Philippines, Alexander McQueen is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Shangri-La Plaza Mall East Wing. Visit the official website or follow @ssilifeph on Instagram for more

information.

Many know Chynna Mamawal from her exquisite bridal gowns and bespoke suits from CHYNNA MAMAWAL ATELIER. Still, the young visionary hopes to make her creations more accessible to Filipino youth with CASA. The Filipino-made casual wear brand gears itself to offer quality and stylish pieces for everyday people.  “Fashion need not be very, very exclusive. I want every Filipino to be fashionable regardless of the price tag,” shares Mamawal in a press release. “This is why I am launching CASA.”

The ready-to-wear clothing brand now stands with a physical store at Isetann Recto. CASA’s clothing can fit any style, from graphic tees and co-ord sets to delicate tops. But more than just offering consumers a new option to get casual wear, the label exists to incorporate a touch of Chynna Mamawal’s distinct design and a high-end style in sensible clothing.

The branch in Isetann Recto is the first of many, as Chynna Mamawal hopes to open over 60 stores in the next two years and eventually expand internationally. “I think it’s about time that Filipinos appreciate Filpino-made products,” she proclaims. “I want my body of work to be defined by my ability to conquer what could be and my fearless drive to create, no matter what the canvas is or what it looks like.”

Head over to the fourth floor, Department Floor of Isetann Recto, to shop for CASA pieces or cop them online through Lazada.

Give better this Christmas with the help of Levi’s

Choose timeless style and longevity this Christmas

A few months ago, we discussed Levi’s sustainability pledge by launching its Buy Better, Wear Longer campaign. The message expands deep into the holiday season, where the beloved denim brand encourages its followers to do the same thing in gifting. Luxury brand Marni lends Uniqlo its unique style and vibrance

After a successful Spring-Summer 2023 collection, the two fashion names team up again

Italian luxury house Marni joins forces with the Japanese brand for a Fall-Winter collection featuring cozy knits, accessories and pieces crafted with UNIQLO’s LifeWear technology. The vibrant summer collection urged those to shake off the oppressive mood brought about by recent times by doubling down on bold colors. So for this season, the two labels come together to explore the joy of being wrapped up. Celebrate the holidays with 60s-era psychedelic stripes and color block designs, ranging from HEATTECH inner pieces to snug outerwear and cocoon silhouettes.

The UNIQLO x Marni collection isn’t limited to clothing but includes a wide range of accessories, too. So spice up your outfits with loud socks, woven balaclavas, snug beanies and gloves. An interesting addition to the lineup is the 100% silk furoshiki scarves that can serve as wraps or accessories.

Shop the UNIQLO x Marni 22FW collection online through the official website and app, or physically at the nearest UNIQLO branch.

H&M releases its newest Innovation Metaverse Design Story collection

The worldwide retail brand blurs the lines between offline and online fashion sensibilities

For the latest installation of the Innovation Stories initiative, H&M explores the merging of offline and online style, and the craftsmanship of high fashion with the dreaminess of virtual wardrobes. Ibrahim “Ib”  Kamara, Editor-In-Chief of Dazed magazine and Creative Director of Off-White, hops on once again as H&M’s creative advisor for The Ready-To-Wear collection. The styling, led by a “more-is-more” philosophy, brings together an internet-breaking color palette and eye-catching silhouettes from vibrant neons, liquid metal-esque accessories, relaxed tailoring highlighted by noticeable materials.

The collection’s innovation focuses greatly on circularity. Some of the featured pieces in the selection use recycled polyester fibers drawn from old garments, textile waste and ocean-bound recyclables. Lastly, the H&M Innovation Metaverse Design Story also includes a digital collection of five augmented reality filters available on the mobile app. Designed in partnership with the Institute of Digital Fashion, the Snapchat-powered AR fashion lenses enable users to virtually try the pieces on, which empowers customers to express themselves IRL and online.

Last December 7, H&M virtually launched this in the Philippines. In attendance were special guests Blythe, Kylie Verzosa, Laureen Uy, Camille Co, Rei Germar, Nicole Cordovez, BJ Pascual and LA Aguinaldo who donned pieces from the Innovation Metaverse Design Story collection.
