Wonder Wardrobe: March Ushers in First-Of-Summer Sales, Exciting Transitions and the Future of Sportswear
The lowdown on fashion news, the latest releases and whatever else is buzzing in retail this month
It’s beginning to look and feel (big sigh) a lot like summer. Without any warning, really, we’ve flipped the switch. Temperatures are suddenly rising, signaling the need to shed layers and adopt a “less is more” mindset when it comes to clothing choices. Then again, this isn’t all that surprising. March, as the month wedged between distinctive holidays (New Year, the month of love and then full-blown summer), is all about notable shifts: a time to swap out the heavy-duty closed shoe for a lightweight sneaker or sandal, a moment to get ready for swim season and, on the beauty front, to up that sun protection game.
Here’s your one-stop roundup on new collections, collaborations and releases to help you get summer-ready:

Adidas Philippines Introduces the Future of Sportswear Through the Launch of a New Athletics Collection
Fusing sport and style, the new capsule offers contemporary apparel modeled by local creators from sports, music, and entertainment
Built to be worn before and after performance, the adidas’ SS20 collection is all about serving relaxed silhouettes designed for stylized layering. From the exaggerated oversized iteration of the classic varsity jacket seen in the updated VRCT Jacket to the integration of tribal patterns in the Urban Tiger Oversized Hoodie inspired by Thai Boxing and even the classic team color-blocking in the new Sports Dress, the collection takes on new shapes and forms with bold prints, distinctive embroideries and fresh silhouettes.
To celebrate the new release, adidas Philippines also brings together a diverse collective of next-generation athletes, including content creator David Guison, actress Gabby Padilla, host and fitness coach Vince Velasco, professional basketball player Renzo Subido, UP Women’s volleyball player Kathy Bersola and singer Nami Onuma. Through the new campaign, each of these creators get to share their “moment of truth:” the career-defining instance that made them “who they are and shows how they are made here.” Just like the new athletics collection, these creators represent the future of sportswear, establishing the game, the audition, the city where everything comes together and everything clicks into place.

During a one-day Collection Preview, Uniqlo SS20 tore open a new chapter by introducing new LifeWear silhouettes (vis-à-vis new Outdoors, Work & Craft, and Art & Design categories that embody the brand’s commitment to keeping people comfortable and making life better), UNIQLO U and UT.
Along with this, innovations in other subcategories and brands were evident: For innerwear, Uniqlo relaunched the Beauty Soft Wireless Bra in response to customer demand. Wireless bras with new cup designs meant to dramatically enhance comfort were part of the release, too. In collaborations, Uniqlo’s partnership with New York-based fashion designer Hana Tajima also entered its sixth year, while Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson returned with a collection entitled “British Country Style,” which now includes items for children. Uniqlo Jeans also got a major upgrade as the brand continues to innovate with style, comfort and affordability in mind. New items such as the Belted Pleated Jeans, Slouch Tapered Ankle Jeans, High-Rise Super Wide Jeans for women and the Miracle Air 3D Jeans for men are now available in stores. Lastly, and just in time for summer, Uniqlo upped its efforts to provide clothing with an impressive ultraviolet protection factor (UPF).
