Wonder Wardrobe: In October, It’s Alright to Be Excited About Fashion Again

Wonder Wardrobe: In October, It’s Alright to Be Excited About Fashion Again

The Wonder Wardrobe roundup is back in time for an eventful new month

Please excuse the seven-month hiatus, but we’re sure you understand. The past months have been a time to rethink priorities and if we’re being honest, fashion was the last thing on our minds at one point.

The industry itself went through its own internal rethink: with brands regrouping, companies re-strategizing and just about everyone finding ways to roll with the punches in the time of coronavirus.

Granted we’re still all about smart spending, hitting the half-year mark in quarantine did signal something in us. Maybe it’s time to stop deferring enjoyment and allow ourselves to get excited again. Because let’s be real: to have something to look forward to during quarantine––shopping or no shopping––can make all the difference. So we’re back to serve up precisely that with Wonder Wardrobe. Get the latest on noteworthy collaborations, new releases and whatever else is buzzing in fashion this month.

TOD’S Men Returns To Its Roots For Fall

Led by newly appointed creative director Walter Chiapponi

With Walter Chiapponi at the helm of TOD’s, the heritage brand goes back to its roots and combines practical style with artistic grit. It also borrows inspiration from men with a classic aesthetic but irreverent flair. Think of Chiapponi’s debut collection as a story of contrasts; a story where the past meets the future.

But what pulls the entire collection together is its palette of timeless, warm neutrals, as seen on RTW pieces and accessories. Speaking of accessories, the new T Timeless emblem gets its moment (back) in the spotlight. This time it reappears as an enameled buckle on shoes or wrapped in leather as a fastening on bags to symbolize TOD’s history and timelessness.

The campaign, shot by Brianna Capozzi, features familiar names such as Aiden Curtiss, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Ansolet Rossouw, Indira Scott, and multi-hyphenate artist David Alexander Flinn.

The fashion show airs exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on October 2.

Blink and you’ll miss it because things are moving fast at Savage X Fenty. Hot on the heels of the show’s teaser release, Rihanna’s lingerie brand has announced its expansion into men’s loungewear and underwear. This, of course, can only mean that the upcoming, star-studded show, premiering on Amazon Prime Video this weekend, will have men and women bringing it to the runway. Along with this, expect performances by Lizzo, Rosalía, Travis Scott, Bad Bunny and more.

All pieces from the Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 2 will be made available for purchase right after the premiere on savagex.com.

Uniqlo Launches Its Fortnite Chapter 2 UT Collection

This is the successor to the Fortnite UT collection launched in 2019.

The worldwide e-sports sensation once again collides with Uniqlo in a collaboration that highlights the lineup of unique Fortnite characters. The capsule, “Fortnite Chapter 2,” features six unisex designs in total: DJ Yonder, Peely, Loot Llama, Robot, Skull Trooper and Drift. Here, a combination of Japanese katakana is another design element that weaves through all the pieces.

The collection is available at all Uniqlo stores in the Philippines and online at uniqlo.com. A special site has also been created for Uniqlo x Fortnite here.

Homegrown Brand Syne Label Launches #SyneHome, a New Source for Sophisticated Silk Loungewear

The brand is branching out from bridalwear and evening wear.

Syne Home was born given the “emerging need for stylish loungewear in the new normal.” Designer and owner Patty Baligod shared: “Since quarantine, we’ve been getting a lot of inquiries about the restock of our Silk Intimates collection, which was a collaboration I did with Lanai a few years back. When we put that on sale [in] May, the collection sold out in days.”

The new collection features the label’s signature double cowl neck short set and a basic silk tee and shorts set available in versatile colorways (emerald green, stone gray, and black). But this isn’t all that’s in store for Syne Home. The brand is gearing up to also include other silk home essentials––like silk face masks, pillowcases, bedding, and home slippers––that will soon launch on the revamped website.

Shop Syne Labels’ silk sets and more on synelabel.com.

Normal People Star Daisy Edgar-Jones Lands Her First Major Fashion Campaign With Jimmy Choo

The campaign sees the continuation of the IN MY CHOOS content series, this time featuring Autumn/Winter 2020 pieces.

British actor Daisy Edgar-Jones became an overnight sensation playing the leading role of Marianne in the critically-acclaimed drama Normal People; now she’s taking on a new role with Jimmy Choo. In the brand’s latest campaign, Daisy is the muse of the season.

“Daisy is a modern heroine in the making, she represents the archetypal Jimmy Choo muse for a new era, her talent combined with her humility lend her unique allure and confidence,” said creative director Sandra Choi. “She has found herself on the cusp of global stardom during an extraordinary moment in history. I, like many others, was mesmerized by her performance in Normal People and am so thrilled we were able to work together to create such a beautiful campaign that talks to the brand’s London roots so strongly.”

In the Philippines, Jimmy Choo is located at Rustan’s Makati and Shangri-la East Wing. For more information, visit ssilife.com.ph or follow @ssilifeph on Instagram.
