stylefestph: Maureen Disini Ready-to-Wear Collection

Maureen Disini delivers tiers, tulle and texture on the stylefestph runway

Maureen Disini has long associated herself with a “less is more” approach to her designs. Just last year, she described her aesthetic as “simple, easy and feminine,” three words that, in tandem, remind of the likes of Grace Kelly. But it seems that slowly, surely, the tides are turning.

On the third day of stylefestph, Maureen presented a ready-to-wear collection that detoured ever so slightly from her signature simplicity. While pared-down ensembles still flowed down the runway intermittently, most of the pieces made the most of texture play, abstract prints and plenty of volume. Fluttering hemlines and tiered skirts made constant reappearances, while a number of palate cleansersā€”a head-turning embellished dress and an all-velvet tiered gown modeled by Ria Bolivarā€”kept us guessing.

Cohesive yet eclectic, playful yet refined, this collection proves that there may be more sides of the Maureen Disini woman that we have yet to discover.
