It seems there’s just no silencing the Filipino spirit. Perhaps our resilience has been romanticized—even taken advantage of, at times—but there’s no denying it: even in crisis-wrought times like these, the Filipino continues to hope, to fight, to sing. And Puhon!, one of the many initiatives ignited during the pandemic, is proof.
Named after the Cebuano term for “hopefully,” Puhon! is an initiative dedicated to building a network of courage and inspiration. The goal: to provide communities and organizations with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), relief goods and COVID-19 testing kits. The means: inspiring stories, the universal language of music and a little help from indie folk band Ben&Ben.

Coming together for a special online concert, the members of the nine-piece group will be picking up their instruments once again—only this time, from the comfort of their homes. In an hour-long Facebook Live, the band behind chart-toppers like Pagtingin, Kathang Isip and Masyado Pang Maaga will be playing some of their hits and interacting with the audience live to help raise funds for beneficiaries in Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.
The live broadcast will take place on Ben&Ben’s official Facebook page on March 27, 7PM.
