The classic closeup single, “Closer You & I,” gets reimagined by Adie, is directed by Tonette Jadaone and stars DonBelle
DonBelle fans have more reason to get closer and feel the kilig with a new music video from closeup, starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano. The Can’t Buy Me Love cast mates star in the remake of closeup’s classic single, Closer You & I, originally sung by Gino Padilla in the early ‘90s. Young OPM balladeer Adie gives a fresh take of the song as he stars in the music video alongside DonBelle, directed by the one and only Tonette Jadaone.
The meet-cute music video had over 1 million Facebook views within just four hours of its release. It showcases two individuals from the same office building who keep meeting in the elevator, and eventually dare to make the connection with the help of closeup’s two variants, Red Hot and Menthol Fresh, giving all day AMA-ZINC fresh breath for up to 12 hours with regular use!
In an exclusive interview, Donny tells Wonder just how much can change when one dares to get close with somebody they like. “Don’t keep thinking about what could happen wrong kasi you’ll never know talaga, [unless] you put yourself out there. In the music video, they were both thinking of the same thing!”
Belle sweetly interjects: “You’ll never know unless you try!”
Donny continues, “Don’t keep thinking about the negative. Think, ‘Okay, if it doesn’t work out, at least [I] tried and put [myself] out there.’”

Belle shares more on her experience on the set of the music video, which did not feel like work at all. “First of all, the story was so nice. Meet-cute siya, ‘di ba (right)? Super unexpected. Of course, working with Direk Tonette—it’s always a pleasure to work with her. I’ve worked with her before and now…sobrang light ng set (the set was so light). It was so fun! Sobrang kilig lang (It’s just so sweet).”
You can see the chemistry between the two, occasionally giggling with one another and whispering even on stage during the music video’s launch, which turned into a meet-and-greet with their beloved fans.
Last Saturday, January 13, closeup hosted a one-of-a-kind event with DonBelle, and lucky fans had the opportunity to share the stage with them. Fans were able to try out TikTok dance trends and play games like “Blind Box” with Donny and Belle, even getting their shot at hugging their idols and getting selfies with them. DonBelle was also joined on stage by Direk Tonette. Adie even performed Closer You & I for the first time in front of a live audience!
Special booths were also present as fans and content creators were able to enjoy exclusive activities the whole afternoon. The event featured the Dare to Get Closer Booth, Bacteria Blaster and Cool Breath Meter.
