BABYMONSTER “SHEESH” Their Way To The K-Pop Scene

BABYMONSTER “SHEESH” Their Way To The K-Pop Scene

BABYMONSTER has YG’s DNA, and we’re here for it

After hitting a home run with Batter Up, BABYMONSTER is back with SHEESH. The seven new members of YG's girl group are Pharita, Asa, Rami, Rora, Chiquita, Ruca and Ahyeon. BABYMONSTER initially made their debut as a six-member group in November 2023 for Batter Up after Ahyeon was forced to withdraw for health reasons.

YG declared that the prior events were a pre-debut activity and underlined that this new album is the *official* “debut album,” signifying a new beginning. The letter T in the group's name is stylized into a “7” on their debut album—BABYMONS7ER—representing the seven members of the group.

Now, complete again, BABYMONSTER got them all going.

The title track of BABYMONSTER's debut EP, SHEESH, is a hip-hop song showcasing the musical style of YG Entertainment through the years. The song was written and produced by their co-YG artist, Choi Hyun Suk of TREASURE.

The music from some of their senior groups, like 2NE1 and BLACKPINK, may come to mind when listening to it, but who can complain? We loved it.

The lyrics of SHEESH highlight their strength as individuals who don't give a damn about what other people think. Being the successor of a globally renowned girl group, BLACKPINK, is a hard void to fill, but this track is a testament to the fact that BABYMONSTER is on a league of their own.

The EP also includes a B-side track called Like That, which was produced by Charlie Puth. The American singer-songwriter stepped in for the group Like That after Ahyeon covered his song, Dangerously, while she was still a trainee.

The B-side to BABYMONSTER's debut mini-album is a pop song with a simple structure that consists of a sophisticated rap line and a catchy chorus. The song captures the feelings of being in love, where one feels pulled in many directions by their desire to treat the other person well.

Charlie Puth's distinct musical style and BABYMONSTER's strong vocals seamlessly combine to enhance the overall listening experience. It includes a new recording of Batter Up and Stuck In The Middle, where Ahyeon's vocals are included. The album’s intro track, Monsters, and their pre-debut song, Dream, are also included in the tracklist.

To add to all the hype, BABYMONSTER has also begun extensive fan communication by formally opening their Weverse community, a global fandom life platform. They intend to increase their interaction with fans globally through a variety of activities, such as guest appearances on music programs, fan signings and a five-city tour in Asia.

As time goes by, we are starting to realize why Yang Hyun Suk, the founder of YG, said, “I have a hope that they will become stars who shock the world.” Well, the world is watching, and we can’t wait to see what's in store for the girls.

BABYMONSTER truly knows the way to make sure we never leave.
