Of solo excursions and life seen through screens

What’s the new world like? Isolated. Almost dystopian. Much of it, seen only through screens. In “Liminal Spaces,” fashion photographer Wilmark Jolindon navigates a part of this new world with model Elys Lim

In the same way the editorial leans into in-between, unguarded moments, it makes use of a different perspective: “[We’re treading] the line between voyeurism and the subtle fascination with what people do when unobserved,” explains Jolindon, pointing to CCTV footage as material and the deliberate use of candid takes.

To add, stylist Jones Palteng uses this space to revisit a common scenario in quarantine: the desire to strike a balance between dressing practically and dressing up to feel good. Those familiar with the scenario know that it’s a way to try and make sense of the repetitive and mundane.

In keeping with the fashion that’s utilitarian, pared down with just a touch of whimsy, makeup artist Janell Capuchino and hairstylist Mycke Arcano, play down boy beauty as well (save for the cameo appearance of a prosthetic fairy ear).

surprise

                   being

                                               alone

can be.”
