We talk about the 2022 American Music Awards with a roll call of artists that took hold of the night
It's no question that the annual American Music Awards is a highly anticipated event among celebrities and their respective fandoms alike. We can see it in how the crowd cheers at the red carpet as the awards night started with a bang at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. I mean, P!nk opened the show with Never Not Gonna Dance Again as the stage turned into her own skating rink. Icon Award recipient Lionel Richie was honored by Stevie Wonder and Charlie Puth with a medley that even other artists sang along to. And, of course, Taylor Swift swept the night with six nominations.
It was an eventful night that served unforgettable recognition and looks. The 2022 AMAs has gone down in history as the moment for celebrities to cheer for each other—decked out in their ‘fits we're still taking about. Here are some of our favorites:
P!nk
A comeback has never looked this good! After a five-year break from attending the AMAs, Pink stunned the red carpet with a dazzling Bob Mackie dress in gold and black (peep the lightning-shaped see-through detail, too!). And just when we thought it couldn’t get any more iconic, the singer shared that the dress was borrowed from Cher (AKA the Goddess of Pop).
Tomorrow x Together
The K-Pop boy group made their debut appearance at the awards show with a unique yet indie look at the red carpet. The boys—Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai—flaunted a mix of an unbuttoned polo, a fur coat and a suit. With most of their hairstyles screaming a rugged feel, the Best K-Pop Artist nominees sported silver chains and bracelets to finish off their looks.
Taylor Swift
Best believe she was still bejeweled, alright! The Anti-Hero artist made the event her own runway with a beaded yellow backless jumpsuit by THE BLONDS. Tell us you agree that a flashback of her Fearless era flashed through your mind—inevitable with her curly golden hair! And how can we not mention her signature red lips? It was the Red era all over again, too.
What else can we say? Taylor’s six returns to the stage made the AMAs her fashion show.
Sabrina Carpenter
The Nonsense singer-songwriter proved that she’s a real-life Barbie with her sparkly take on retro chic. Sabrina wore an Oscar de la Renta ensemble, which covered her in diamonds from Wempe. The look was completed with a glossy beauty finish and Dark Chocolate Brownie nails.
Also, can we just talk about Sabrina’s fangirl moment as she presented the Favorite Music Video award to Taylor Swift? The duo threw their fans into laughs when they compared their height differences after sharing a hug.
Charlie Puth
Leave it up to the singer-songwriter to stick to his signature style by sporting a tank top and a beaded necklace. He walked the red carpet in a laid-back yellow suit by Marni, topped off with an effortlessly fresh beauty look by Natalia Bruschi.
