Bows, florals and all that sparkles—the girly girl aesthetic AKA girlhood is having a moment, and Belle Mariano is dressed for the occasion
As a Wonder gal or guy, I’m sure you’ve noticed the girly girl aesthetic, AKA girlhood, have its moment on the runways, across the internet and on our pages, particularly our monthly covers (served with a side of black, leather and metal). I’m more sure you’ve worn the ubiquitous floral accessory, taking inspiration from Loewe last year and, more recently, the spring collections of Simone Rocha and Vaquera.

The girly girl aesthetic, synonymous with hyper-feminine details like bows, florals and pretty much anything that sparkles, may not be new. But its recent iterations are fresh, playful and reminiscent of our youth (or simpler times). It's also taken on a new meaning for those who take their fashion seriously, where the girly girl is anything but childish and is instead a symbol of reclamation.
Whatever your take on this trend or fashion in general, we at Wonder think that Belle Mariano makes a strong case for the girly girl aesthetic:
Belle of the Ball
Belle reimagines beloved Disney princess Belle for the Star Magical Prom 2024 in a long yellow dress with a bedazzled bust and much simpler silhouette by Francis Libiran. She finishes the look with a sparkling rose clutch.
Coming Up Roses
White roses breathe new life into the classic LBD as seen on Belle at Shein’s Style Avenue event. She zhuzhes the look with heart-embroidered stockings in black.
Blooming Beauty
Belle blooms even in basic combinations like white and denim. In place of a white tank, she wears a flower-shaped top from Shein.
Pretty in Pink
It’s Barbie’s world, and we’re just living in it! Belle looks like Barbie herself in a glittering pink number with a delicate bow detail in the middle and matching pink platform pumps.
Take A Bow
Belle brings to mind a fairytale princess in satin pink accessorized with an oversized bow headband in sage green for a Met Tahione ad campaign.
