These new “forever pieces” borrow from Levi’s rich archive
If there’s one pre-pandemic pastime I fondly recall, it’s spring cleaning. It was a time to bond over the unearthing of our parents’ belongings relegated to the far reaches of their closets. Like hunting for treasure, we’d claim hand-me-downs left and right, dusting off some pretty amazing finds: mom’s Valentino engagement dress, dad’s drawer of eyewear from the ‘70s in near-mint condition, both parents’ stacks of vintage Levi’s they’ve outgrown.
Firsthand, these blasts from the past show that trends that go around really do just come back around. But in the case of true classics, like those Levi’s jeans, they don’t have to come back because they never cease to be relevant.

Considering the Y2K fashion resurgence, this is a timely reminder. Low-slung jeans might have their time in the spotlight again, but certain denim silhouettes are forever. A counterpoint to the return of the low rise: Levi’s High-Waisted Fits and 551Z Authentic Straight jeans.

The reigning style, as far we’re concerned. For women, this season’s reworked silhouette comes as no surprise either. The high-rise sits above the waist and comes in a relaxed fit, so it’s universally flattering. And on the topic of “forever pieces,” we of course expect no less. Even the ‘70s-leaning flare feels contemporary.
Meanwhile, the “anti-fit” denim silhouettes feature a level of precision, one that Levi’s has mastered. So regardless of leg style—bootcut, slim or flared—the overall look is easy yet streamlined.

551Z Authentic Straight
Another archival piece has earned a 2021 update. This season, Levi’s 551Z Authentic Straight jeans tell us the brand is taking cues from its first preshrunk, zip-fly jeans from the ‘60s. The crop, this time around, is a little more pronounced but doesn’t steal focus from the classic straight leg that allows for stacking around the ankle.
If there was only one denim edit to consider this year, this is a strong contender.

Trends come and go, but the classics remain forever. And while forever pieces are hard to come by, that’s not the case not at Levi’s. Choose to shop the new releases by visiting Levi’s online.
