Beauty Products from Healthy Options That Work Wonders

Beauty Products from Healthy Options You’ve Probably Been Ignoring (That Actually Work Wonders)

Time to get these all-natural beauty products on your radar, in your shopping basket and into your beauty routine

Beauty girls (and boys) often do their shopping at their local department store, drugstore or dedicated beauty brick and mortar. Rarely does a health food store come to mind for this kind of thing. But since the Aztec Secret healing clay mask pandemonium broke out early in January (yup, the world’s most powerful facial mask apparently has been in a store near you all this time), we’ve been pondering a lot about the all-natural approach to beauty. Another thing we haven’t stopped thinking about since? Healthy Options and how it turned out to be an inconspicuous but utterly fantastic beauty source.

Healthy Option is easily the most popular health store in the country (not to mention the first all-natural products retailer in the Philippines), but little do people know that it’s more than just vitamins, supplements and organic goods for the health conscious. Face, hair and body care products down to bath essentials and cosmetics are now all here. And in keeping with the Healthy Options brand, of course, it goes without saying that each of these items are certified free of parabens, lead and heavy metals, phthalates, synthetic coloring and other toxic ingredients. Healthier beauty options? Check. Smarter beauty investments? Check, too.

So, beauty gals and guys, now that this store has your attention, it’s time to get some answers. How many more buzzworthy beauty products are hiding in plain sight at your local Healthy Options?

This skin clearing astringent.

Imagine your skin throwing a tantrum after you neglect to show it some TLC (think: blemishes, acne, dry patches, the works). This right here is the remedy. It’s gentle enough for daily use but extremely powerful when it comes to keeping breakouts at bay and keeping oily or combination skin in tiptop condition. Instantly noticeable results include: smoother skin, softer texture and lightening of pimple scars.

THAYERS NATURAL REMEDIES Witch Hazel Astringent in Lemon, P695

This clarifying soap.

Ideal for delicate or sensitive skin, the Dead Sea Mineral Mud Soap gently exfoliates but packs a punch. The Dead Sea mineral salts in this bar have deep cleansing and purifying properties that draw out toxins to reveal rejuvenated skin. Argan oil and shea butter work together to moisturize the skin, so there’s something to counterbalance all that exfoliation.

ONE WITH NATURE Dead Sea Mineral Mud Soap with Argan Oil & Shea Butter, P299

This ultra-softening body butter.

For healthy, glowing, baby-soft skin, turn to this skin superfood. The five principal fatty acids in shea butter make it a great ultra-moisturizing beauty ingredient that reduces inflammation, soothes itchy skin and razor burns, treats cracked heels and makes dry knees and elbows a thing of the past.

SHEA NATURAL 100% Whipped Unrefined Shea Butter with Coconut Ginger, P925

This lightweight pimple-zapping spot treatment.

The acnedote™ Invisible Treatment Gel is a godsend for those with acne-prone skin. Formulated with 2% salicylic acid and 100% vegetarian ingredients, this gel doubles down on combatting acne by targeting existing blemishes and preventing future breakouts. It’s light enough to be worn underneath makeup, too.

ALBA BOTANICA acnedote™ Invisible Treatment Gel, P379

This restorative DIY hair mask ingredient.

Four ingredients, four steps and a ton of money saved on salon treatments.

In a narrow-based mug, mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon of this vegetable glycerin and one large egg (beaten). Introduce two tablespoons of castor oil and mix everything well. Apply this to your strands with a wide-tooth comb and leave the hair mask in for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and cleanse with your regular shampoo. This works like a dream to lock in moisture, leaving you with beautiful, soft and shiny hair.

EARTH’S CARE Vegetable Glycerin, P595

This mask that detoxifies and leaves skin supple and soft.

For your weekly dose of intensive moisture, slather on Derma E’s Hydrating Clay Mask with Hyaluronic Acid (what the brand likes to call nature’s moisture magnet). This vegan face mask combines the purifying wonders of Olive and Green Tea, the skin softening properties of Avocado, Cupuacu Butter and Jojoba Oil and the nourishing benefits of Vitamin E.

DERMA E Hydrating Clay Mask with Hyaluronic Acid, P1,250

This skin-transforming clay mask.

Given promising before and after photos and impressive testimonials, the hype surrounding this beauty product is real. Still, this is worth approaching with a little caution and it always pays to read the label thoroughly .

The 100% natural calcium bentonite clay, when mixed with equal parts apple cider vinegar, creates a clay mask that tingles and tightens when left to dry on the skin. The label suggests to leave the mask on for five to 10 minutes for those with delicate skin and 15 to 20 minutes for those with normal or combination skin types. The natural active ingredient here works to draw out deep-seated contaminants and control the skin’s sebum production, which makes it great for curing cystic acne and taming problematic skin.

The Indian Healing Clay isn’t on display in most Healthy Options stores, however, all you have to do is request for it at the checkout counter (they keep the stuff behind the desk and have a strict one-person-is-to-one-tub-of-clay shopping policy).
