We say, enjoy it however you like
How do you like your Hennessy? Many experts suggest the best way to drink cognac is neat or on the rocks. This is especially true once you level up to Henny XO, which is aged at least 10 years. But what if you’re not ready for a big girl (or big boy) drink just yet? We say, enjoy it however you like.
Experts are there anyway to give us tips on what goes with what, where and how much. But there are plenty of other ways to enjoy a good cognac. Hennessy’s commitment to creative expression through the Hennessy Very Special Vanguard Society campaign is testament to that. This time, the French distillery through their latest campaign, aims to provide avant-garde talents a platform to share their vision with the world. Artists Bradley Zero Phillip and Quang Minh represent the campaign message, “Never Stop. Never Settle,” as well as share a common DNA: determined, game-changing and are shaking up the status quo.
Now, I’m no Bradley Zero Phillip or Quang Minh when it comes to cocktails, but I do like throwing in a few ingredients to trusty recipes to make a drink my own. Feel free to get creative yourself and change up the cocktails up ahead:
Hennessy Very Special
“The world’s most popular cognac”
Aged: 2 to 8 years
What it tastes like: A mix of fresh fruits, grapes and citrus followed by vanilla flavors, toasted almonds and creme brulée
Hennessy Ginger Cocktail
What you’ll need: 40 ml Hennessy Very Special and 100 ml Ginger Ale
How to make it: This one’s easy as 1, 2, 3. Pour the cognac into a highball glass. Add ice cubes and top with your choice of ginger ale. Garnish with a wedge of lime or lemon (orange works, too), or slices of fresh ginger. You may also want to check out mom’s spice rack and add a cinnamon stick for an extra layer of spice.

Mango Basil Lemonade Cocktail
What you’ll need: 40 ml Hennessy Very Special, 30 ml lemon juice (fresh is best!), 15 ml Mango puree, 15 ml simple syrup and 1 club soda
How to make it: Combine all liquid ingredients save for the club soda in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a glass with fresh ice, top with club soda and garnish with basil leaf (or leaves) and a lemon wheel or two, or three. Add a sprig of rosemary to bring out the lemon zest and add depth to your cocktail.
What you’ll need (makes 8): 375 ml of Hennessy Very Special, 270 ml of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon or a similar dark red wine), 120 ml of mango juice (fresh if you can), 120 ml of cranberry juice, 60 ml of peach schnapps, and orange wheels, berries and peach slices
How to make it: Mix all your ingredients except the Hennessy. Give it time before you add the Henny and steep for the flavors to pop. Serve cold and garnish with mint leaves to make it extra fresh.
So how will you be enjoying your Hennessy VS today?
