The collection incorporates UNIQLO innovations like AIRism and 3D Knit
Fashion designer Maiko Kurogouchi and UNIQLO have joined forces for the first time on a capsule collection that highlights understated elegance and innerwear that's gorgeous enough to be worn on the outside.
Incorporating the signature flair of the Mame Kurogouchi brand, UNIQLO allows the Japanese contemporary designer to interpret LifeWear to her liking. That is, with ingeniously constructed details, keeping the modern wardrobe in mind and in celebrating freedom of movement and expression.
“As a designer, one of my challenges has been to enhance feminine comfort and beauty with intimate items,” shares Maiko Kurogouchi in an official statement. “Innerwear is an everyday essential; it’s the first thing we put on after waking up, and it needs to feel comfortable on the skin. This collection will contribute to healthy and happy lifestyles.”

With a special focus on eliminating the boundaries between innerwear and clothing, the capsule features carefully considered cuts (evident in the AIRism and mesh bras, panties and bra-tops). Delicate, luxurious details like thin straps and golden adjusters are a staple, too. All in all, it makes the subtle statement that the UNIQLO x Mame Kurogouchi woman is free to blur the lines between innerwear and outerwear.
Another element that allows Kurogouchi to do this is the muted color palette that ensures versatility. The pieces in black, white, beige and brown are also crafted with skin tones of women everywhere in mind. But these come with a fun twist: they are intentionally visible under apparel, further leaning into innerwear meant to be seen.
Another line blurred by this capsule is the one between at-home ease and dressing for life outside. “Like the innerwear, the clothing that Ms. Kurogouchi designed is simultaneously simple and sophisticated, from tops to skirts, pants and dresses,” shares the UNIQLO team. “All garments keep women comfortable and looking fabulous whether relaxing around the house or getting around town.”
